Star code 0893
Hi, this 7G tranny is nuts. I got my car back after the speed sensors was replaced. Thank God the car is out of limp mode. Now the new code 0893 Hydraulic fault in transmission (disengaging shift element does nor disengage). 1,2 gears is perfect. 3rd you feel slightly when change. 4,5 is like the car jumps forward and bang when gear engage. 6 & 7 is like it does not exist. In the beginning 6 & 7 was there but now gone. My new oil is burnt. Sorry the maccy say, we need to overhaul the tranny. When kick back from 5th there is no kick back. If you stay long in 5th then the tranny loose all gears in drive mode. Select neutral switch car off and start again, select drive and carry on like nothing happened. Moments late4 the same start all over again.
Is the clutchs burnt, which one? Is the valve body dirty? Must I open the valve body and clean it might there be some contamination between the valve ***** (metal /plastic) in the valve body?
Please help

So the dealer tell me today that it is the kueb valve/solenoid that is dirty. I must take it out, clean it and fit it back and my tranny will be OK. So I will be doing it after I collected all the tools that I'll need.
Do anyone know where I can get the spanner and tool sizes to do this operation on the tranny? The torque settings?

Hi Glenn S. It is a 2006. Vin number is WDC2030202R240921
It does have a conductor/hydro plate. The speed sensors has been changed. Tested all working fine.
722.902. 7G gearbox.

OK. I took my car to another axle and transmission center. The the valve body was tested and opened no fault found. All the solenoids was tested and no fault found. The conductor plate was tested and no fault found. Gearbox OK. They found gear selector shaft to be loose. The shaft was tightened. Denzil told me he is downloading new software for the gear selector switch and will then down load the software on the selector switch and will then marry the selector switch with the gearbox on Monday. Good thumbs that this is the end of my problems. It looks like the previous meccy did not change my gearbox oil but he did charge me R1900 for 9.5 liters of oil. Will keep you updated.

It looks like the Electronic selector lever module control module was sabotaged by the previous technician. The switch was falling apart and was all intact when I cleaned the car after I bought it in March 2016.
The selector lever was so loose that it moved around when you go around a bend or driving on a bumpy road.
The new guy working on the tranny moved the switch forward so that the selector switch can be put in Park, but then the car is going into Neutral when driving around a bend or on uneven roads.
He then moved the switch backwards so that the selector lever can stay in the position that is selected, then you cannot select Park. So the car stay in Reverse.
Gosh do anybody have a diagram of this electronic selector lever module control module?
Please any help will be appreciated. I need to see how to put this selector switch back together again.

So here we go again. Waiting for an official report from my new mec at axle and transmission center. The gearbox had 2.5 liters of oil short, that's why the code on Star is 0893: Hydraulic fault in transmission (disengaging shift element does not disengage.
Looks like my clutches is burnt. It keeps on banging in 4,5 and no 6,7 gears.
So the box is dropped. Got a secondhand box from a car that has 107 000 km on clock. The necessary will be done tomorrow. I'm also changing the selector switch to make sure all is good.
I lost a lot of money with the first guy that did not know what was cooking. So I will go and confront them when I have my report.

New tranny fitted. Up on the ramp AL 7 gears working. Bring the Benz down on the floor and there is no gears!! What?? I must say the mec did not swop the conductor plates out, so the new tranny still got a not paired to my car conductor plate. But the car was not suppose to start with this new foreign tranny. So yes , up in the air wheels in the air there is gears but down on the floor there is no gears.

Adaptation was done but we battle to get a smooth shift of gears. So yes I'm still waiting for a specialist to phone me when he has a space for my car to do the fine tune on the adaptation. When it's done I will post. I am missing my Merc, last drove it in March 2016.

OK. Reman 722.9 plate was fitted on the tranny. Software loaded, adaptation done. All beautiful. 6 days later limp again. No response from speed sensors. Back to square one. I have now spend R58 k on this gearbox and the car cost me R62 k. What the hell. I'm selling as soon as the tranny is fixed

C320CDI, Can you clarify ultimately what the solution was in your case? Sounds like your problem came back, and along the way there were a few possible fixes.
This is the only post I've seen anywhere that describes the issue that I'm having, so I was hoping to get some insight.
- 0893 error code. No other codes.
- Violently slamming into lower gears when coasting out of 5th or 6th (when lifting up accelerator)
- Occasionally 5th and 6th are not available (wont go higher than 4th gear)
- Occasionally it knocks into neutral when coasting out of higher gears into lower gears. Stopping and putting into park usually fixes, but not always, sometimes I need to wait a little while.
- Fluid was checked, it's not burnt. Level is correct. Filter is good.
My vehicle is a 2008 ML320 CDI with 180k miles, with 722.9
