Mbtech208 oil dipstick Q on 2003 E500.

Is it possible to obtain a dipstick or measuring tool for the oil on an 2003 E500 W211. I was able to obtain the measuring tool for the transmission for my 1999 E430 and I believe you said in another thread that that tool will also work for the W211's transmission. Now I have to come need a tool for measuring the oil in the W211. Any thoughts????

Thanks as always,

Randy

P.S.: Your cold Beer still awaits you here in Orlando!!!!!

MBTECH 208 only drinks the finest wines and smokes the best Cuban's...you'll have to do better.

Good question re: the dipstick, I can't understand why they stopped using these.

MBUSA: I LIKE CHECKING MY OWN OIL, INSPECTING THE COLOR, CLARITY AND CHECKING FOR METALLIC PARTICLES ON THE STICK. PUT THEM BACK IN THE CARS!!!!

Yes, you can purchase a dipstick to measure the oil. It is not inexpensive, however. In excess of $100.

p.s. Greg, just bought some sample cigars in Europe, however my "daily" is the H. Upmann corona (Dominican). I do have several boxes of those cigars recently made with pre-embargo tobacco, and actually am pretty surprised how well they've held up. I generally prefer robustos but finding the time to enjoy the whole thing has been fleeting, lately.

I'll look around for the part number, I believe it is an "S" part number. Your parts guys may not be looking in the right place, or not looking at all. The resources the parts guys have for looking up tools are not very good.

For that reason, I may also find it difficult to find the number...it's somewhere in WIS though.

I was at the dealer again yesterday and still no luck wit the parts manager. He's pretty sharp, and insists there is not a tool available. I spoke with the mechanic as well, he states they have *****ed so much about not having one, that the 2005's now come with them, yet they cannot be retrofitted. So if you have something have Scorchie, please post it.

Thanks,
Randy

Here's the part number:

A 120 589 07 21 00

It was about $80 last year. I don't know why I thought it cost so much.

There's also one available from either Matco or Baum, about $40.

I think in all cases, you need the spec sheet from WIS which tells you how many mm of stick is supposed to be dipped, per engine. I will look that up.

Scorchie, Just got off the phone with my local parts guy. He ordered the tool and it will be here on Monday. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! He also apologizes as he thought it would be a direct fit and not just a tool. So all clarified and thank you.

Randy

P.S.: Have you had a chance to look up what mm length I need to measure for the E500 MY2003?????
