SBC fitting leak, can I fix it?
I recently purchased my CLS 55.
I have a brake fluid leak on the top of my SBC.
It looks as though its right around the line that goes from the SBC to the brake fluid reservoir. I noticed that the overflow reservoir was over full, way higher than max. I was hoping that what was occurring was that as I drove it and the fluid heated up and expanded and that it forced its way out of the system by going out of the spring clamp that holds the return line from the SBC to the reservoir.
I cleaned the SBC and sucked down the reservoir below max. I haven't had an opportunity to drive the car since, however there is more brake fluid build up.
I also put this in the W219 area, I'm new so I wasn't sure where to place it.
So with that I have a few questions:
1. Is the SBC always under high pressure even when not being driven?
2. Can I fix this leak by replacing an o-ring or something?
3. Does anyone know if this is the sort of thing that would be covered under the SBC warranty?

not under pressure off
unfortunately the aluminum turning connector seems to be part of the unit
you'll have to disconnect it and take a look why
maybe you can make a gasket or a fix kit exist

Intuitively, in general I think the answer is yes. If my car has sat a while, then simply opening the door will cause the pump to run presumably to restore lost pressure.
A call to a dealer service department will give you an answer to your 3rd question regarding warranty coverage, of course.

mercury,
The line you highlighted “10”. The picture shows it not going to the reservoir? Does it lead somewhere else or is that just the way the drawing is?
How do you think I disconnect the connector at the SBC unit?

I’ve got one guy that says system is not under pressure and another that says it is. How can I be sure?
This will change how I trouble shoot this problem.

Wow that’s a lot of information.
I was looking at it some more today and I started wondering if that spring clamp on the suction hose might be allowing fluid to leak through.
I replaced it with a normal hose clamp so I can make it tighter if I need to.
My question now is, since I let air get into the suction line do you think I need to bleed the system?
I don’t think I do because it is not on the pressure side of the pump, but this is a new car to me so I need to ask the experts.

So the new hose clamp did not fix the leak.
I’m still not sure if the leak is from the SBC side or the hose side.
Tonight I disconnected the hose and cleaned up the SBC I’m gonna leave the hose off a couple days and see if the leak it still there, if it is then I’ve got a leaky SBC unit.
Time will tell.

So after a couple of days with the hose disconnected the small puddle of brake fluid on top of the SBC returned all by itself.
This tells me its not the suction hose hose clamp that is leaking. It is leaking up from the SBC suction hose 90 degree elbow.
Nearest I can tell it can;t be taken off or fixed so it looks like I need a new SBC hydraulic unit.
I'm calling MB usa today to see what they say about the warranty. Wish me luck.

Well called MB usa, they said that the local service manager makes the call as to rather or not something is covered under warranty.
I guess Ill be heading there when I can.
