I would not let a shady dealer hold you back. You will have a hard time finding another low mile, 1 owner, clean carfax 09 wagon for sale.Originally Posted by joshwars

Just pay a trusted independent mechanic and body shop for a thorough PPI

Same car, different EBay ID, low price. Something seems fishy

It is priced below others & probably should be.
Salesman said no paint work when he did walk around. Shocking, I know."

anyone on here know the history on it? previous owner a member of this forum? curious why an mb dealer would ditch this car at auction. extensive repair history? no interest locally? i am extremely interested in purchasing this one but the type of dealer that it is and the fact that a 'real' mb dealer ditched it raises some red flags for me... am i being paranoid?Originally Posted by FASN8N

Hey guys! If anyone is interested in a heavily modified 2005 E55 Wagon, send me a message and let me know. Going to be moving on to a new job in a new place, and I think I'd rather sell and start fresh when I get there with a new project too
Still feeling out price, but will be well less than the the book value plus $21k in modifications and repairs that went into it over the last 8 months.

very good friend of mine is a master tech for mb and ran history on it... no real red flags but four dealership had their hands on this one and the servicing dealer sent it to auction which makes me worried but he says it could simply be because they didnt think they could make any money on it or it would sit on the lot too long for it to be worthwhile.Originally Posted by FASN8N

i wouldn't hold too much against it being sent to auction. although its not an "old" car, depending on whether the dealer have mostly "new" cars on lot and low to no "used" cars around, then unless the put a rock bottom price on it making it a "steal" then it would never get sold there. so they send it off and really looking to make a few bucks on it and move on the bigger fish on their lots. the cost of having that vehicle becomes expensive vs selling quickly and making room for more new cars to move. so get the ppi and due diligence and let that stand more for what/how well the car is or taken care of.
the servicing dealer only kept the car on the lot for a month... then gave up on it... had i seen it on their lot i would have been more comfortable paying their asking price versus this no-name dealer's asking price. (despite it being 2k higher... it was most likely cpo or eligible for the mb extended warranty.)

can you get over there and take it for a drive? run it thru its paces and see then how you feeling?? sometimes the drive will make you continue to be interested or it could leave something in the pit of your stomach and have you running the hell away from there! then if you still like it after the drive, continue with the ppi etc etc... you may also very well take them down to less than 2k from their asking price you making a trip to see the car and all, they feel you are serious but will need some more follow-up on car... very well can get to your price point.... ready to get your hands dirty?

Have CEL and other issues been sorted out? How many miles is it now and how much is it? Would love to bring it back to Cali. I wonder if it'll have issues with smog test.

Still has a CEL for the idle, but all the other ones are gone. I spent lots of $$ and time chasing it, only to hear from everyone that everything looks good and there aren't any issues! Finally took the recommendation of a few folks with the same problem and, whenever I get the CEL about every two-three weeks, I just reset the codes and it goes away. I get a rougher idle when it is on, but that is the only negative affect from it-hasn't changed a thing for drivability. Who knows, I'm sure someone will figure it out someday.Originally Posted by fastneutron

It does have a cat delete...but the old cats are in good shape and with the car. Easy enough to put back in. Everything that was done to it was done by BenzWorks in Huntington Beach, CA, so you've got a shop there to help sort it out if needed. 104k miles, and I sent you a PM.

Why would you make a different thread when everyone lists the wagons for sale here Originally Posted by iconoclast

Why did you pass on the 09 that was listed?
the title of the thread is for an e55 and does not distinguish between w210 or w211... i am only interested in a w211 e63 but since many stumble across them and post here i thought i would place the link here for a different thread that pertains exactly to what i am looking for.
which '09? if you are referring to the one in NJ i am scheduled to go today to look... the other two i did not buy was because another member here beat me to it the other was an abortion of a vehicle beat up and the seller was very odd and vague about the vehicle history.

planned to head out this morning but when i set out to go we had two hours of delays because of the rain, accidents and traffic. i had to postpone the appointment... apparently we're having a mini monsoon season here and nothing but rain for the next three days. aiming for thursday with saturday as the rain date. if all goes as planned, the car checks out and they accept my offer then i am willing to purchase it. (professional/experienced opinions welcomed on making a realistic offer price.)
