Hmm, "Raped Ape" that would suggest erratic tick over and sudden bursts of unexpected power ;-)
I agree though, and the dealer says it is full Merc service history. having problems convincing the boss lady that a car with 130k for 22k is a good idea. he told me this morning he's had 4 enquiries already in 24 hours. be interesting to see how quickly it goes.
I think that white one that went recently was the steal that I really missed out on !

I am all for someone making a living, but raising the price by an additional $4k (because they think there is some interest) when they probably purchased the car for $18-$20k is absurd.
Don't give in and make the purchase, make this dealer sit on the car for some time and sell it at a loss.

This type of dealer frustrates me.
1) I call them and ask for mileage- they start telling me how immaculate the car is, I again ask for mileage- they say 130-140. weird they would not check actual mileage
2) I mail them asking for their bottom line on car due to high mileage- They call me early in the morning and spend 5 minutes telling me how immaculate the car is " I am driving it now- it is perfect" I stop them and remind I just wanted to know their bottom line- He says how much did you see it advertised for as he does not have the price in front of him ???
He asks what i'd pay, and keeps pushing me to tell him my offer, I mention 20k and he says he would not take less than the asking price (then why push me for an offer!)
3) I check back and it's 4k higher.
Really hope people don't jump in and buy at that price. It's a nice car but 130k is 130k and his original price reflected that if you ask me.

I think the gray high mileage E55 was my neighbor's car (in 60305). Always see (and hear-nice rumble!) it around town, often with a bunch of kids in there. Guy had great taste in vehicles, as I recall one of his other cars was an 07-08 RS4. Wonder why he didn't sell it directly and how this dealer came to get it?
Anyway, interested parties might want to call Al at Chicago Performance and Tuning (CPT) in Melrose Park and see if they did any of the aftermarket work or maintenance on the car or know anything else about it. I've mentioned this car briefly to him before when I was looking to buy one, and he was familiar with the car and owner, though I'm not sure to what extent. Al's the owner there, is a good guy and great indy mechanic, and would also be the one I would have inspect it (I find the dealers have too much of a chummy relationship with the local used car shops).

I must say, this is getting a bit ridiculous. I've been lurking on here a bit, because i'm looking to get a E55/63 wagon to add to my stable, and i get that these are really rare, but the last few listings have had almost no description, very few pictures, and in some cases no mileage!
This is a prime example of a 100% sellers market i guess.
