Car free at the moment
Seems like the Santa Barbara car was underpriced. If it sells in a few hours, you let it go too cheap...

I called for that wagon too. They sold it to someone they knew because he bought the car on the 25th! At 8:50AM PST the car was already sold and the dealer wasn't even open. When you find one like that you don't even blink and you send them the CC info for the deposit.

same car (WDBUH76JX5A795139) came up for sale on ebay this past week. i placed a few bids on it and today the listing was cancelled because "the item is no longer available"... the reserve was dropped the other day but there were a few shill bids on the auction so not sure if it sold or if it was pulled to be listed again.

I was the one who put the deposit down for this car. I called at 9:30am PST (their local time) and was told that I was the 4th guy inquiring about the car since 9am and to my surprise it was still available. Needless to say I jumped on it. The car should be arriving in about two weeks. I'm having it shipped to NYC. I really can't wait. It looks like the car is in great shape with all service records and hope to keep it that way.

Thanks! I'm paying $1575 for an enclosed trailer from a company that they have been using with great success.

plycar? i've used them in the past and that is similar quote i received. no complaints except with cost but the others are much less but not enclosed and that kind of distance is a bit much to risk for the "savings". (IMO)

I don't recall the name now but I'll get it when I have all the paperwork. Yea I agree. Especially since I have no prior experience with shipping a car. I was not about to go out on my own and arrange shipping to try save a few bucks. They ship cars out of state all the time and they've never had any issues with this shipping company.

every dealer i ever dealt with "never had issues with our transporter" until i used them. most dealers bid on transport and use anyone who takes the lowest bid so not very often that they use the same company unless they're contracted with them. i've shipped cars several times and found out the hard way. so far only two dealers i have experience with shipped with the same transport company and one was plycar the other high end transport. if the dealer uses them they will most likely get better rates than you or i arranging on own simply because of their contract/volume.

NEVER get the car shipped through the dealer. That's like asking the dealer to perform PPI.

Try Intercity or Reliable Carriers instead.

Never heard of 'em. If transportation was part of the negotiated price go back to the dealer and ask them to give you credit on their cost of shipping. Then go with a reputable company that will take proper care of the car you've been looking for so long.

I have never used that particular carrier, but I have had several cars shipped across country using different carriers. If you're going with an enclosed carrier make are it is a real metal box and not a canvas enclosure. One time I paid for enclosed and the car arrived in a canvas enclosed carrier. The dust and dirt must have swirled around in the canvas cover and the car was absolutely a mess. Dust and dirt everywhere it could possibly be. It took hours and hours to get the dirt out of the ventilation system and engine bay. It would have been better to go open carrier than canvas.

I recently had my 1993 500E shipped open carrier and out side of a few bugs it was fine. It was obvious the car was on top in the front parked backwards. The back of the car was covered in bugs, but easy to clean.

Also, see if the carrier has GPS tracking so you can track the car across country.

New, old Mercedes and REAL AMG's.
Hey guys, quick question. Is there any particular reason as to why you prefer the E55? Any thoughts about the E63's? I know that I would love to own one (NA) in the future.

i prefer the e63 wagon however from a tuning pov there is more opportunity and ability to extract power and upgrade the e55. in my opinion the e63 is well sorted from the factory and i wouldn't have to add anything to it but with the e55 i would most likely wind up playing with it a bit and modifying.

Thanks for the advice. I will make sure that it's going to be in a metal enclosure.

This is why I like the E55 over the E63, start at 2min 25 seconds….

Also, on the shipping issue I have used Horseless Carriage and Intercity Lines, both were excellent to deal with and took top notch care of my cars.

Hi -

I'm in the market for an w211 E55 wagon. I almost purchased a high mileage model last week but it turned out the car needed way too much work for the price we initially agreed on (supercharger repair, all 4 brakes/rotors). I live in the NY metro area and would appreciate a heads up if one pops up for sale.

Thanks very much!

Was the E55 wagon that you checked out posted here? Was it this "gold" 2005 E55 wagon with 90k miles in NYC? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-Compare-to-E63-Wagon-RS6-Wagon-S4-Avant-2005-mercedes-e-55-amg-wagon-super-/161179301783?forcerrptr=true&hash=item258708f797&item=161179301783&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
