Due diligence required.
Hi all. Just wanted to give a heads up. I had a deal on this wagon with rsf motors since last Friday for 36k. I even gave him my cc info to charge a grand and hold the car while we schedule a PPI.
Then when I spoke to him on Sunday and Monday to schedule the inspection all of a sudden he started to put pressure on me to inspect the car at one of the shops on his block which of course I didn't feel comfortable doing. Now bear in mind that I'm in NYC and he is a car dealer in California so I went to Benzshops.com and gave him a few reputable and experienced shops within 15-20 minutes of him and still he declined because he "doesn't trust them". But he expects me as the buyer to trust his neighbor to inspect my car and "not to worry".
Long story short I told him that was a deal breaker. He responded that he would pass and he had other interested parties anyway.
My point here is that although there may be nothing more here than trying to make a few extra bucks by selling to someone else, I feel it's my responsibility to let anyone looking at this vehicle know to make sure it's inspected well.
Good luck all.

Curious what people think about the 120k+ miles? I know the cars are good for many miles if well looked after and I know an E Wagon at 23k is cheap as chips, But is the mileage just too much ?
EDIT> just spoke to them dealer said it was between 130k and 140k maybe 134k - he wasn't sure. lame that he never actually offered to go and check! anyway claimed the car was 100% immaculate.

I'm still on the hunt for "The one" but to tied me over for a bit I just picked up an 06 E55 sedan with only 20k original miles. :-) I'll have some fun and continue the search for the Wagon.

The most important information would be evidence of documented service history, these cars seem to do fine at higher mileages.
I have 109k miles on my car and it still runs like a raped ape, but I also stay on top of regular and preventative maint. and send the oil off for analysis with every oil change.

I agree though, and the dealer says it is full Merc service history. having problems convincing the boss lady that a car with 130k for 22k is a good idea. he told me this morning he's had 4 enquiries already in 24 hours. be interesting to see how quickly it goes.
I think that white one that went recently was the steal that I really missed out on !
