WTB: E55 AMG Wagon (I know it's a long shot)

I skipped on it because it didn't have 3rd row seats. The seller got back to me quickly via email. I guess the sale never went through?

he responded
I hit him up on the CL email and he responded pretty quickly, so there's a data point for you to consider. He offered to show the car at my convenience, but I wanted a 3rd row so I'm going to pass. Seems like a great deal.

E55 Estate
I saw the car again. Still very clean and maintenance all up to date. The extended warranty really was worth it over the years! Took forever for us to coordinate a meeting but finally did. I ended up passing on it as he raised the price a bit from what we talked about initially and I did really miss the 3rd row seats when I had it. It's a great car and will make someone happy.

We need a 3rd row vehicle ASAP e55, e63, r63 if anyone has lead on one...

Fairly easy to install third row. Parts from the dealer will cost ~$5k so it's obviously better to find the parts used. Even better to buy the car used. There's a white E55 Wagon at MB Seattle right now for $32,000 (if it hasn't sold yet). Not sure about the third row.

This one does not have the 3rd row. I'm sure it is technically possible to retrofit, but I'm sure it will cost you. Cars.com/Autotrader.com has a couple of W211 AMG wagons with 3rd row available listed. I had email alerts for those sites and ebay to find a non silver/black AMG wagon and finally got one, but it took almost a year. Good luck!

I used to LOVE the 3rd row, but now that our kids our almost 9 and 11 (and more than 80 lbs max, per guidelines), I'm starting to think that perhaps it's not as critical as I thot originally.

Coming from a B7 S4 Avant (I had 3 Audi Avants), you'll love the AMG Wagon. How many kids do you have? I thought we'd need a 3rd row as well, but I can fit 2 car seats and a smaller adult in the back seat. Which leaves the huge trunk available for all of our luggage.
#1165
So the E55 max weight 3rd row is 80 lbs?

The 3rd row seat is a bit of a gimmick, IMO. It is only good for children of a certain age. Can't put a car seat or a booster in there, and an adult would be very uncomfortable and, in my view, unsafe. I feel a bit uneasy putting people in the trunk in case of a rear end collision. There is nothing to protect them, the whole trunk is a crumple zone. You also lose the spare tire with a 3rd row which is not a good thing at all in a family car.
So I think if you often had more than 4-5 people in the car, you might want to look at a Q7 or a GL with a real 3rd row seat option.

It is nice to be able to use the 3rd row in a pinch (we use them about once a month). The maximum recommended height is 4.6ft and the weight is 110lbs (as per the manual) per person.

Actually I do know of a silver/black R63 for sale in SoCal. It's not listed anywhere- but a friend of mine is interested in selling. I'll get you the contact info in a bit.

W211 E55 Wagon, E46 M3
I was in the exact same position as you. We have 2 kids as well (5yr and 30 months) and got tired of taking two cars when visiting grandparents. I had a 2002 Audi S6 Avant and the 3rd row seating on that sucks.

We missed out on a local R63 just right before he was born, and after his arrival we were only passively looking for another one, till a few months ago when it became a bit more imperative. I was about to give up and "settle" for an R320, or even a GL320 to sort of hold us over till I could find that elusive R63, but to make a long story short, I was pointed to one for sale in Canada, and am now waiting for it to arrive at my place in California, albeit about 3 weeks behind schedule!
Anyways, what I was hoping to get at is, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get an interim car, such as an R320 (*especially* if you know you're going to use it for road trips). Or if you're dead set on getting an E wagon, a non-AMG one wouldn't be a bad idea either (before the pano roof became a must-have option for me to get for my son, I passed on a friend's E55 wagon, too...whoops!). Just figure that way you can also see if you actually like the platform in general; if you do, then just keep your eyes peeled for the next avl AMG one that comes up, and if not, then at least you can be glad you didn't have to spend the bigger bucks on the AMG version to find out. That's how I plan on approaching this "interim R" of mine...if it works out for our family, then I'll get another, better R63 when one pops up, and if it isn't all we thought it'd be, then...well, then there might be another R63 for sale at that time!
