Idk brotha, I just payed $60 to reprogram a lexus key fob, dont know how much it will be for MB but I doubt it could be more than that. Still beats the $400 for a new one.

MB keys can not be programmed by the dealers. That has been posted numerous times. Not sure why people still try and/or believe.

It was either swapped out how this one will have to be done or was ordered and purchased by previous owner since after a certain year all new order keys come like that my 01e55 came with black keys so I know yours didnt come from factory that way no 98 benz did

Okay, so you can order them from the dealer, but you can't BRING one to the dealer and have them match it to your car.

I need to be clear on this so I know how careful I have to be with this thing :P

Yea man , if you lose your key you can only get it from dealer , if you buy one that was programmed to another car allready I can almost guarentee NO dealer in USA will program a key from another car . it use to be you could order them online or from other dealers around the county to get then cheaper but now I believe you can only get from your local dealer and they even charge you to program it IIRC.
