Talking Do you snicker at ML500, ML430, ML350/320 on the roads?

Just wondering what you MA ML55 drivers think about all the other MLs that you see on the highways, as you spot them or when you pass them, and they can definitely see your ML55 AMG zooming on by... do you snicker, or make any comments to yourself/fellow passengers? I have to confess, I usually look-down, and make negative comments on the lower MLs... I guess I'm too in-love with my AMG.

My ultimate pet peeve, seeing MLs have the EBAY "AMG" decal on... such fakes, cuz these MLs have BOTH "ML430 (ML320)" & "AMG" on their backs... c'mon, such wanna-be's... hate that so much

That's pretty stupid, Those new ML 350's and ML500's are worth more than a 4 year old ML55. They should be the one snickering at you with the 03' tail lights and 03' headlights.

You sound like a snob!
I hate people like this. Reminds me of the **** I went to highschool with. All rich snobby kids that always make quick judgements.
Grow up!

snob no!!! spoiled Yes... before you make that judgement maybe you should find out what people do in there spare time...

I saved up for about 2 years while on internships to put the down payment on my car, I also do a lot of community service in my spare time... Im am very lucky in life and pretty blessed to own such a car at 22. I do a lot of work with Habitat for humanity as well as food kitchens, homeless shelters etc etc. I am no rich snobby kid. My ML is worth $22,xxx... there is nothing expensive about it, I got it for a steal at 31k in aug 2003 when they were still hovering for $40k- 45K

As far as the judgements I make towards other owners...they are based on reactions I see from other owners when I drive by them or when they catch up to me to look at me

I was not referring to you!
I was referring to the guy that started the thread. Maybe I should have clarified that up. YOu didn't say you look DOWN on other models. So I was not directing my comment towards you.
Hopefully that clears it up!

Snob? Oh come on... Just because I own nice cars doesn't mean I'm a snob, and just because I fly-by other MLs with my AMG and laugh at their *amazed* faces... doesn't make me a snob either. By the way, I paid good money back in 1999 to get my ML55.... it was bought brand-new, and of course it's considered old now if you're talking about the years. However, when compared to all the other newer MLs, the 2000 ML55 power/performance and the actual price paid-out is on a waaay higher level that you can't even describe. As for the now-lower-book-value of my 2000 ML55, UUGHHH D'UH, the value of ALL MLs have gone way down.... not just a ML55... nowadays, everyone can afford to buy a "used" ML55... EVERYONE. But only those who work hard and strive to achieve can purchase ML55s BRAND-SPANKIN-NEW... like I did.

SO why are you comparing a 2000 $70-something-K ML55 AMG to other less-valued & less-priced MLs, even if they are newer models that run from the years 2001-2005?????? Can't compare things like that... So don't even try to!

Come on... AMGs are in a whole new category. I'm guessing that all you out there who are calling me << the dude who is a "snob" >> own entry-level MLs (or Cs & Es?)... and wish you had been able to pay $$$$$$ for an AMG.

Stop hating & Stop name-calling... aren't we all adults here?

55fanatic,

I totally understand what you're saying about working hard, buddy... anybody who is financially stable now always has a past of dedicated diligence. You gotta work hard to get far....

Btw, it's not financial judgements.. rather, the judgements are all about <Yea, check out my razor-sharp ML55 AMG, little kiddies!>..... ain't it??

Yup...thats me! I dont have the $$$$ to pay for that AMG....
You got me there!
Dont judge a book by its cover....just because someone is driving a base model and you are driving an AMG doesn't mean he couldn't afford one! Maybe thats how people think these days!

You're pretty coc*y there cool guy, how about when a BMW X5 4.8is pulls up to you, do you still do the same?

I have never experienced that from an AMG owner, not even from the gentleman who'm I drove along side his SL65 just smiling at it.

I think you're VW material not Mercedes.

No, but I do laugh when I fly by lowly ML55's in my G55 AMG Kompressor. It's real fun to watch their necks snap 180 degrees!

Hey, it's all cool, i don't want any hate here, but why are you comparing the ML55 to a BMW X5is and a G55?? The thread specifically states ML55 owners... and, in MA... ??? I don't and I'm not gonna go around comparing my ML55 AMG to another AMG if it's in another class ... I'm waaay smarter than that.. I know any other AMGs will whip my ML55's *** for sure... !!!!!!!!!.... but anyway, I love all AMGs... and, I'm actually looking forward to getting an E55 AMG this summer, since it's due time, after all, I've had the ML55 for about about 5 years now. (yea, i know, jumping from an suv to a sedan... but so what, it's still a benz and an AMG.... performance, baby!)

If I paid for it, hell yes I'd snicker. It's just the feeling that comes with it. ****, I know theres something in the back of EVERYONES head when they pass by any other car. Why else would you pick Mercedes.

I don't snicker though, I don't do anything except thank god that my dad has spoiled me beyond belief.

Really,
All the name calling and ridiculing is not even needed. I believe in Karma, you snicker now and one day it will come back and bite you in the butt. Not pointing any fingers, but some people go through their life thinking it is a huge contest, Who has the biggset house?, baddest car?, most clothes?, etc. I don't know what kind of warped mentality posesses people to act like this. Maybe a lack of attention as a child? The sad part is, the useless flaunting is what ends up getting them the attention they need. Sometimes the attention is had from the wrong crowd, thats how cars get stolen or vandalized, and people get carjacked. You drive your car, I drive my car, why are you shoving your "better" car in my face? Not everyone in the world is "fortunate" enough to drive a nice car.

Another sad case of "Napolean Complex"...

Vraa, that is the best way to be...

And to whoever said the Karma opinion... Karma makes the world turn, dont do something without thinking there will be repurcusion(sp?) I know when ever I have "flaunted" my car as some people call it, I always get slapped in the face with either some unwanted police attention or some kind of road debris, in one way or another, always screw up my car...

great thread.

btw, you realize the difference in 0-60 between a 500 and 55 is only 0.2 seconds right?

You got it totally wrong, dude, I don't shove nothing... in nobody's face... unless you're talking about something else... sorry, i gotta throw that in... anyway, back to the subject, the only thing I probably do is "marvel" in my ML55 more as I pass other MLs by... maybe I'm an EXTREMELY proud owner of my black AMG beast?? yea, I think that's it...

Oh God, I hope that you're not referring to the 2006 ML500s, because I haven't even seen one of the roads as of yet! So how can I snicker at them? I don't even know much about them... have the pre-orders been delivered and driven home to their garages yet?? I wouldn't know, because I don't care.. So lets get to the nitty gritty details below on ALL ML500s.. in comparison to my 2000 ML55 AMG (yeah baby!) :v

All the specs below are from the MBUSA website.. just look around, and you'll bump into all them... so don't try to accuse me of making any BS up.

00 ML55 AMG, Mercedes claims 342 HP @ 5,500 rpm and Acceleration is 0-60 mph in 6.4 sec .

02 ML500 (Year that the ML500 was introduced), Mercedes claims 288 HP @ 5,600 rpm and is 0-60 mph in 7.7 sec.

03 ML500 , Mercedes claims 288 HP @ 5,600 rpm and is 0-60 mph in 7.7 sec.

04 ML500 , Mercedes claims 288 HP @ 5,600 rpm and is 0-60 mph in 7.3 sec.

05 ML500 , Mercedes claims 288 HP @ 5,600 rpm and is 0-60 mph in 7.3 sec.

06 ML500, Mercedes claims 302 HP @ 5,600 rpm and is 0 - 60 mph in 6.7 sec.

Which ML500 are you talking about? None of the ML500s past to present have even come close to the 2000 ML55 AMg, and won't... because Mercedes have stopped production for AMGs in the M-Class! As for the 2006 6.7 sec vs. 2000 6.4 sec, hell, the AMG can stomp all over the 2006 ML500s. The 2006 ML500 is 0.3 seconds behind the 2000 ML55.... umm... sorry, but, those 0.3 seconds DO COUNT when you're measuring and comparing performance... in any cars, be it a Benz, Porsche, Bimmer, Lexus, Audi, etc.

And to be fair to ME, you really truly have to read my initial thread post before saying stuff like ML500s vs. your ML55 AMG, because I stated that I have respect for and only look at the ML500s on the road due to the beautiful and sleeker design (however, there's no respect for its performance whatsover.. only for the sleeker design)... but to conclude, I do like the ML500s. :p
