Fake Ml55

I was at MB-Manhattan today and saw this (sorry about the crappy camera phone quality)...

Is this anyones on MBWorld? If so, you should be ashamed of yourself!

If I see a non-AMG that has an AMG badge, I usually don't care especially if they have any AMG enhancements. But when someone completely rebadges their MB and try to pass it off as an entirely different veicle, I gotta say something.

I hope everytime you drive this thing and you see a real ML55, you shrink in your seat because you look like an idiot.

PS- All the staff at the service dept think your an idiot too

Because anyone who puts an AMG badge on a non-AMG model is a loser and a poser. People like the owner of the above white ML-class need to be harrassed in public view. Either spend the $$$ and get an AMG or face the fact that you car will never, ever be one. You are only lying to yourself, the only people who know what an ML55 is will definitely know it is fake. On top of that, you are embarrassing all true AMG drivers.

I don't think its the fact that he put AMG as one of the badges. I think the poser part is the ML55... its a ML320 but trying to pawn it off as a 55... anyways thats just my opinion....

Please explain how that makes me more lame

Did you recently move from AZ to NY and buy a white ML320 then forget to change your profile?

How it bothers YOU what other people does with their STUFF. How you took the initiative to take pictures and blast him online because it bothers you that much. If the owner is happy with it, why do you care. I am not condoning rebadgeing, but I don't go on mood swings if someone does either.

Well put....I think it really erks AMG owners just a little to much they hate the idea that anybody can slap a 55 whatever on the back of there ride and fool a large amount of the public that don't know what really seperates the real deal from just a few little letters...It's a hot topic continuously debated, I find the pictures amusing at best... I guess what it really boils down to is...Say you own a Lambo, or Ferrari, You get notoriety by just having the base model...But the current line up of AMG models Mercedes has out looks very similar to entry level models in almost all classes...So You could have a guy buy a used 03' SL500 w/**** load of miles for 45k-50k and pass it off as say an SL65..now most trained eyes like ours would catch it in a sec...But not the average joe or posssibly the classic gold giggin' hoe, I'd say the last one would be poetic justice...Some gold digger gettin played You know what's really funny? the ML class is virtually worthless right now...I was just looking on Autotrader.com and a ligit ML55 AMG w/50,000 miles is going for a measly 25, Grand that one pictured above must be worth like 10, Grand

Mood swings? Since when does snapping a couple of pics and posting them online define mood swings? If it bothered me as much as you think, I would've NOT blocked out his license plate and/or just debadged the thing myself.

If you had an AMG, you would understand. It's only non-AMG owners that defend people like this.

The $10 Rolex watches in Chinatown aren't real nor are the $20 Louis Vuitton bags yet there are idiots that buy them and try to pass them off as they are until someone calls them out. Why??? Because there are people out there that paid for the real thing and don't want to be confused with those that only pretend to.

PS- To me, the fact that you defend this means you condone it.

What weak *** dude trying to play off his 320 as a 55. Most people would see or better yet HEAR the difference when the car is driving down the road. I came up on one like this on the Highway once upon a time and played with him... raced him but matched his speed the whole way to give him the feeling he might actually win and then I dropped the hammer and took off, pulled in to a gas station and the kid was like so thats what a 55 does.

PS thanks to everyone for stopping by the ML55 section, this is the most action we have seen in months

Ricker: Your right, the W163s are pretty worthless right now. When I got my ML55 in 03 my MY 00ML55 was worth 43k, now its worth in the vicinity of 21k maybe less. JUST SAD

I hate seeing that too. Don't even try to defend it. The biggest idiot I've seen was a w124 E-class that had an S600 badge on it.

SL65 AMG
Heh - I saw yesterday a totally wigged out CLK 430 with an AMG badge right next to the "430." And it didn't stop there... he had "AMG BENZ" in that ridiculous Old English looking font splayed across his rear windshield.

It gets better. He actually had a vanity license plate that read "AMG BENZ" - as if he hadn't already clearly established his poserhood.

Funny, I've got AMG floormats in my '01 CL600. Can I rebadge my car as a CL65 now? Haaa! I threw 'em under a couch in my house. I bought a used set of regular Mercedes-Benz mats which I actually use instead.

I don't hate on the rebadgers, I think it's kinda funny in that pathetic sorta way. Tell me you don't get side to side when you see one and shoot 'em an "awwww... you don't know any better" look, too. That's right before you drop the hammer, of course.

Actually, when you come visit, you should check out one of the 'fakes' I have.
I swear, it almost feels as heavy and real as daddy's.

Not as heavy as some of my Fossil's though (gosh I love those watches, cheap and they last forever).
