My Custom built Cold air intake =)

It cost around 130 dollars to put together, I can feel a gain, but, it needs a heat shield and the pipe needs thermal insulation, I had a SRT intake in there before. And that ran better, I think its due to the other intakes very thick piping. I noticed a 1mpg difference in city driving as well =)

I've had a KN intake similar to yours on my Pathy, with the heat shield e.t.c.
It worked great in rain, colder weather, warm waether - but once the weather got hot 85+ - it actually was slower than stock. I had trouble climbing some hills around here, hills that it would fly up in colder weather.

I noticed that too, when it is cold, it runs.. it runs so well it scares me. But the day I put it in, it was around 80F and humid, it had a slightly slower throttle response.. So for the summer I might just put the stock setup back in there.

Ladi DONT DO THAT... I hope its a joke, all that thing is, is a fan, it causes no change in boosting level in the engine.

Matt looks good but why did you point it up against the wall there? I think you would have better luck pointing it towards the location where the stock air inlet is in the front. I dont think that second hole allows as much air through... I have also come up with a cool idea on how to get ICE COLD air in to the engine during those WARM summer days... I need to do a little more research on it but I think I have a cool little idea that may allow for 40degree or lower air to enter the engine ALL year round- Stay tuned for the fanatic tube, hehe

I did that at first, then I noticed that the serpentine belt throws a lot of hot air from the bottom of the engine right into the filter.. Sooo Until I get a heat shield, or a longer curvier pipe, im going to leave it be, where it is resting right now, it is getting air from the space around the headlight.

you should of left the long tube that broght cold air from the grill to the box if you could link it some how i think u will get cold air i have seen filters with like holes in the middle. try to that tube conect to the tip of the airfiler and the heat deflecters would also work let me no how it goes

55s come with cold air. I have an ODBII scanner connected with the stock box and Green filter and the intake air temp averages only 5 degrees at most over outside. Any way you can measure your intake temp? Hot air leads to less HP and is unlikely to cause a 1mpg increase as with the cone you are probably flowing more air which would cause the ecu to flow more fuel.

I think its the more power we are interested in not feul effecient BUT also you are wrong in assuming that its worse mileage, Im averaging at least an extra Mile per gallon in the city as well as a pretty instant throttle response
