What happened to distronic?

In this thread (https://mbworld.org/forums/ml55-amg-ml63-amg-w163-w164/148869-ml-63-amg-way.html) distronic is discussed and shown on Phils order sheet. But I don't see it on Whoopsy's order sheet from this thread(https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=156061). What gives?

Distronic is not available on the ML in Canada, hence my order sheet didn't have that option.

If it's anything like the laser speed control on the Infiniti, trust me - you don't want it.

I have Distronic on my E55 and I love it, the only thing I don't like about it is that it maintains about a 1 second following distance, which creates a place for people to cut in front of you. In lighter traffic and on trips it is great. I haven't experienced the Infiniti version so maybe it works differently, but I will get Distronic on every MB that I buy from now on.

I find that, if you catch up to someone quickly, and enter the "safe zone", the sudden decrease in speed can get you in trouble with the guy on your rear bumper. With the Infiniti, you can adjust the "safe zone" but even at it's most aggressive setting, the on the gass/off the gas transitions are unsettling. I'd just as soon have ordinary cruise control that I can predict. Perhaps the Mercedes version is better but I won't miss it when my ML63 finally arrives.

The MB system works much better, the following distance is adjustable by means of a thumbwheel, but even at its closest setting it monitors trafffic well ahead and slows down in a gradual manner when needed.

If you don't have it like you say you won't miss it but after having it you won't want to be without. I hear that the Distronic Plus on the new S-class is even better, it will allow you to come to a complete stop and keep the cruise on.

.............not true. It was the night vision system. Test was performed at or near a tunnel after Mercedes explicitly informed said tester that system does not work under those conditions.
