Obsidian Black

Does anyone have pics of obsidian Black. I ordered a Black ML63, but have to wait until January for it. My dealer called today and told me he has an Obsidian Black ML63 that is available. I want Black, but I don't want to wait. What to do?

You can’t tell any difference in pictures. I recently saw both side by side on a CL500. From a distance you can’t tell much of a difference. If the light hits it the right way it looks a little gray. Up close you just see the metallic flakes. I would say its a toss up. The only disadvantage is if you ever need to touch up the paint, the metallic is more difficult. I personally would not be able to wait. Life is way too short to wait for such a car.

I have Obsidian Black on my E280 and I like it, compared to a friends E260 that is just Black that we parked side by side my had just little more sparkle and gloss to it. Personally I like the metallic flakes up close, eve my firend had to admit mine looked better, trust me, I know the guy, it hurt him too admit it.

I just went from a Jet Black E55 to an Obsidian Black ML63 and I'm happy with the change. Like others have said, the difference is sutle and only noticible in bright sunlight. I wash my car quite often and so far if there are any swirl marks, they are not noticable.

If you decide to wait that's about 65 days or 1560 hours or 93,600 minutes or 5,616,000 seconds....

Can you hold off that long...

IMO, Obsidian Black is a much better looking color. The metallic flakes make all the difference. If you ever drive it in the bright sun, or during sunrise/sunset, be sure to bring another pair of pants.

It's a mixture of both. Basically what it sounds like. Mocha. Coffee.

Black with gold flecks in the sunlight and more brown on a cloudy day.

Not only is Obsidian a superior color (IMO), you may also beable to play dumb at the dealership and say..."Well, it's not the color I "really" wanted. What can you throw in"?

I was thinking of using it as a negotiation tool. The truck is loaded and I don't want things like the wood steering wheel (I like the standard sport wheel better) and the DVD entertainment system. I also am a little hesitant because I am a bigger than average guy and the seats are a little too narrow for my back. I like the truck so much that I am considering dealing with the uncomfortable seats. Maybe they will knock off a few thousand. Is anyone getting under MSRP on this vehicle?

I love the wood wheel. 3-5K off sticker is pretty standard.

Well, I went and looked at the car and it was very nice. I am going to lease the vehicle and the best offer they would give me is $1550/month ($92,000 cap cost, 62% residual, .00395 money factor, 39 month lease). They would not budge on the cap or the money factor. The catch is this is the only dealer in the state and obviously they know it. These numbers seemed very high to me. Is this what these trucks are going for or am I getting screwed?

About the going rate... hey your $20 cheaper than me!

Pricey...but worth it! (Do yourself a favor though and don't break the cost per day and per hour... it's not pretty...)

When I compare the price of my often used ML63 to the price of my seldom used boat...the ML looks like a great value!

Congrats! Post picts when you get her and sign in on the "How many owners here" thread.

Given the numbers you posted above your payment would be approx. $1,496/month BEFORE tax. (plus or minus $10 on the pmt. estimate)

So if you're sales tax rate is around 4.5% then $1,550 would be close enough.

Just go and buy/lease it! You're gonna love the ML63!!! The seat "wings" will adapt to your body size. I have over 4,000 miles on my black/black ML63 and have loved every mile!!! And no problems whatsoever!

Well, I picked up the obsidian ML63 today and it looks and drives great. I was late to pick up my 3 year old from preschool due to the paper work, so I rush over to pick her up in my new ML. We load up and head home, but something is not right with her. Her eyes were glassy and she looked tired. We get to about one mile from home and we are in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic on the freeway. Suddenly I hear that all too familiar BRRRRRP BRRRRP sound and I turn around just as my daughter started throwing up large volumes of chunks and liquid not once, not twice, but three times. No towels, shirts, rags in my BRAND NEW ML63. All I could do is watch the waterfall of puke flowing from the kid car seat down the left, right, and front of the right rear seat where I had her strapped in. It was everywhere. In the hinges of the fold down seat. Under the floor covering under the seat. And in the perforated leather (it will never come out). ***** happens. Other than that, I love this truck!

Dude soooo sorry. Last time that happen to me I was just out of college and it was a three week old Ford Explorer. The big difference was he was about 270 pounds. The worst part was trying to get it out of the air vents. He actually yakked again the next morning cleaning it.

Oh... I know we are all big fans of pictures on this site.... But why don’t you wait a little while!

I second that! As a suggestion I would use leather clener, and depending on how **** you are you can use a brush (or a toothpick depending on time) and clear all the bs out of each hole....good lucK!

I will try to post pics, but I have three young kids and every second of the day is spoken for. Thanks for the advice on cleaning the car. I am going to attempt to flush it out with water (real wet rag) and a vacuum first.
