I think your going to have some tough decisions Masmole!
The choices you have are rather difficult. M5, RS4 or ML63. At least there are no wrong choices. I do hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Lower it and chip it! It wont seem so loose then after the others.

Which chip did you get and what kind of results did you get?

I picked it up this morning. Meets and exceeds all my expectations. I had no idea the seats had a ventilation function... small pleasant surprise. Cornering with the suspension in sport mode is impressive for a car this tall and heavy. Nothing unique about yet another silver ML but here are some quick pics anyway, I'll take better ones later...

Congrats, a very beautiful truck!!

I noticed that you owned the BMW 4.8. Very nice truck as well. It would be intresting to get your perspective when comparing the two trucks.

First day and you're already drinking starbucks in your ML63, you better watch out its a ***** to clean. Nice car nonetheless, I love the leather/wood steering wheel.

It's my daily driver and sometimes it gets parked outdoors in the city where I live, work, and drive around most of the time. I've already eaten lots of $50 parking tickets and citations in the M5 which doesn't have a front plate so I just didn't want to deal with it this time around and had them put it on before I drove away.

i know its a stupid question but how do you find the power between M5 and ML63.

I like both cars and test drove both after my ml350 lease is done its gonna be a tough choice for me

Is that the ash interior? Can you post some pics with the interior well lit (or just use your flash)? The only thing keeping my wife from getting a ML63 with an Ash interior is she doesn't think it'll look good with the burled walnut. Thanks!

Aside from several occasional romps with some restraint, I usually try to follow break-in procedures per owner's manual with all my cars. Since I only have 200 miles on the car and haven't even begun to explore what it can do, I can't really provide a fair assessment of the power difference between the ML63 and the M5. All I can comment about is what I've experienced during a short test drive a few months back when my salesman urged me to "step on it"... and based on that, I can say that the M5 was a considerably quicker-feeling car. But it's apples to oranges. The manner in which the M5 achieves speed in the DSG3's fastest shifting mode with P500S power mode on is simply brutal. It gives you the sensation like you're being launched from a catapult but you're not quite sure where you're going to land. On the other hand, the display of acceleration during my ML63 test drive, while impressive, was much more controlled and effortless, which was to be expected since the ML63 has a much smoother shifting automatic gearbox, all-wheel drive, and lacks the facility to turn off traction control and ESP unless you go into dyno mode. A can also comment about how the ML63 feels a lot more torquey than the M5 during normal day-to-day "civilized" driving, and this is exactly what I love about this truck. Like the M5, the ML63 also has 500+ hp on tap, but unlike the M5, all that power in ML63 seems a lot more usable on the street, on the highway, and overall daily driving duties, when you're not letting the tachometer hover above 6000 rpm's too much. When I drive the M5 on the street I often think about how much of the M5's abilities are put to waste unless I'm driving it near the limit at a track event, which I do frequently but apparently not frequent enough. Having said that, if I had to recommend one over the other as an overall car for the street, I'd have go with the ML63.

No, I have the all black interior. Ash is a very light gray color and is significantly brighter than my interior. Here's a picture of ash interior on an ML63 from a fellow MBworld member's gallery...

The ML63 feels very similar in terms of handling compared to my former 4.8iS. In the power department, the difference is of course obvious both on paper as well as first hand (the ML63 eats the 4.8is for breakfast). Both trucks are/were the best of their kind during their respective reign of the suv kingdom, but unless BMW releases an "M" version of the new second generation X5, its reign is over. Everything else about the ML63 makes it a better overall vehicle than the old E53 X5 4.8iS and even the new E70 X5 4.8, neither of which is really a fair comparison.

Congratulations - Nice Pics of a Great Truck!

Masmole:
Congratulations on your newest mode of transportation! From your photos it looks like a real beauty...
BTW - I expect to take delivery of my new '07 ML63 in the next 1 to 2 weeks. I have the same exterior color combination as you, but am also getting the trailer hitch and decided to go with the all leather AMG steering wheel and blue illuminated AMG door sills. Like you, this will be my new daily driver so I will also have license plates front and rear. For added protection and warning, I will have the K40 CALIBRE radar/laser detector/diffuser system installed aftermarket, (see my previous posts describing that), as well as the Power Booster that I ordered and have already received. I also have purchased a number of accessories from my local M-B Dealer and will install them after I take delivery, including the rear cargo area vinyl tray, cargo management system (plasic trays) for holding small cargo items so they don't slide all around during acceleration and turning.

Also, similar to you, I will be curious to see and feel first hand the difference between the acceleration, torque reserve, road handling and ride of my new ML vs. my current '04 E55, as well as the build quality.
My wife, driving her new (early May delivery), 2007 BMW 335 ci twin turbo (sport pkg.), has already demonstrated how she/it can dust me in the E55 on the twisty back roads around Bedminster, NJ.

Question: Did you already or are you planning on any special body waxing and/or polishing of the fresh paint for protection? (Anyone else have any thoughts or comments on this....?)
Also, I have decided to wait and go through this upcoming winter season to see how the ML handles in the limited snow that we get in NJ. If I don't have to spring for dedicated snow tires and wheels I would rather not spend the money.
