Coolant Vent Hose?
Hey folks, question for you... if you look at the coolant expansion tank (back of the engine bay right up by the hood), there is a hose coming out of the left side. Left side while looking at it from the front with the hood open
I found mine loose today when changing spark plugs (yes, my hands are sore). Is that a vent hose or should it be attached somewhere? THanks!

W203 slightly modified
If the hose is not firmly clipped to anything and the end can flay all over the place then it's probably snapped off. The good news is that the parts are really cheap.
If the tube runs down and is tied down then it's overflow.

Thanks benzmodz. Can someone have a look and let me know where that hose should go? Mine is burned up and if it's more than a drain hose then I will replace it. I couldn't tell where it went in any drawings but it looks like a vent hose. Would love some confirmation! Thx!

Cooling tank Hoses
Long Time no see LOL. I to brought a ML (ML-500) 2005 64,000 miles and I'm trying to make it perfect again. At 67,000 mile the spark plugs were flat slap worn out. Gap was opened up .007 , tips were rounded . My arms & Hands were cut to hell !!Still easier than the 03 CLK 55. Installed new front shocks. Torsion bar Bushings from Boschnut. Shocks were weak , front end float , Torsion bar pads Crack into 3 pieces , Lower front ball joints worn & noisy. All this was easy work done in my home garage on the floor. Cleaned the Mass air flow sensor and did some small mods to increase the intake air flow. The owner was a nice person , I just let little thing anoy me. Well back to your hose identification Please see the attached pictures

Shock for a lowered ML? 55 Amg
You can look at Monroe Reflex P/N 911133. , but they do not just bolt in. You have to use the OEM Upper bushings, Washers & sleeve ( Not the ones that come in the Monroe's Box). On the lower end of the Monroe Shock The metal sleeve that is molded into the round opening . Must be Drilled out using a 9/16ths Drill bit ( $25.00) The use a grade 8 washer to help center & space the shock for proper clearance , Assemble using the OEM lower mount bolt. The OEM lower shock bushing assy has a cone type spacer , ( See Picture #4) I'll probably cut them cone part off & trim them up in the lathe . Install them at a later date. Update and installed now
Now from what I have read. If you lower the ML. Via The Torsion bar adj screw, The ride gets pretty hard over rough roads & pot holes. There is only
1.5" of shock travel to start with. See Picture #3 , So the shock hits the Orange rubber bump stop pretty easy on a lowered ML . You can Gain some of the travel back by cutting 3/4" of the bump stop off. See Picture #3
The OEM shock travel Length is 1.375" Vers Monroe 3.375"
Extended Lenght 15" Vers Monroe 14.375"
Compressed Lenght 13.625"Vers Monroe 10"
So The Monroe Reflex for the Ford Lighting Truck is working well on my ML-500 The ride is Smooth & turning control is much better than the worn out OEM shocks at 66,000 miles

Mass Air Flow sensor mods
This works quite well No CELs . I've used this mod on many cars . Including my 03 CLK 55 for the last 16,000 miles & my new to me 05 ML-500 for the last 5000 miles. I guess it is the old school coming out in me < NO, i did not check for improved or increaased air flow , on the Flow bench
