Just joined this forum today. I bought my 3rd Mercedes last year. My first two were diesel sedans so this new one (for me) is the total opposite. It's a red 2004 SL600. Talk about different!! This 12 cylinder is great. The car was kept by a collector so only had 45k on it when I bought it. I have since put on another 10k. My other car is a Volvo so you know which is my first choice.
Oh, by the way, I live in the SF Bay Area of California. We have perfect weather here so that top is almost always down.
Hi everyone, just joined after having bought my first MB about a month ago. It has about 143K Km or 89K Miles. The car drives great and is very comfortable. Looking forward to seeing some of your builds!
Hi, My name is Marty for Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just bought my second MB. First one was a 2007 C280 AVANTGARDE 4matic. Sold it a few months ago. Just bought a 2004 CLK500 convertible with 80000kms (50000 miles). Looks brand new, love the V8.
My name is Bukola and I am new here. Pls I need some guide advice from the house. I just relocated from Calgary, Canada to Bakersfield, California due to work and I have been challenged with importing my GLE 400. I did get a compliance letter from Benz which stated I need to install TPMS on the car and also the instrument cluster (I guess the speedometer). Anyone knows any specific importer that can help with this. I have not been successful with the Register importers I have contacted. Either they are too buys, don't deal with single customers or it can't be done. I know I will be able to get some good insight here. Pls help!
Congratulations on joining the forum and foremost the new whip and joining the family and owning your first MB which is a CL55 with only 33k miles which is the icing on the cake. Your car is so pretty and having that V8 naturally aspirated engine is one hell of an engine which I think we might have the same engine that I i always look forward to getting behind the wheel and drive that beast. Be safe out there and stay out of trouble
Hey guys, good to be with you all. Been a visitor/lurker for years and thought it is time to join up. I am looking forward to learning what l can from you all. Thx, Bill
Saw a bargain so couldn't resist adding a W124 Cabriolet to the pen. Just needs a little bit of Big T's TLC & elbow grease!
Hello, seeing this very blue W124 cabriolet has awaken some sleepy wild memories as this was the first MB i've ever driven along with having some memories that goes hand to hand associatedwith it. Great find and congratulations. If you ever thought of selling it. Please let me know. Congratulations
Hello all, just joined the forum. I am looking for my first MB. My wife decided she needs to trade in her camaro (getting hard to get in and out of) and I think a new GLE450 would be nice. I am currently using the forum to learn what I can about the car and the brand.
Hello fellow members. Although I have driven many a Mercedes in my lifetime it is actually the first time I own one. Could not be happier and happy to have joined this forum. Looking forward to all the wealth of information contained in here.
Hello all! I purchased my first Mercedes Benz. Very excited and simply in love with my car. I wanted a box style and went with the GLK 350. It’s all decked out and very happy. I’ve been washing my car by hand for the past two months. Running low on time as I’m a mother who works full time I ran my car through the car wash. The following day my son asked me what happened to my car? Here a huge chunk of paint came off directly under the emblem. Called the dealership nothing they could do. So need help! What color paint would I need and how do I fix it?
Hello Mich1008. Sorry to see what happened? Was this a new car? This should be covered under warranty, clearly impact from car wash bristles should not delaminate paint like that. Warranty should cover this. Paint code should be on window sticker if new and on the VIN number decoder tool present here on the forum as well as on the Car Fax. You most likely will have to paint your entire hood to match the front of the car. Any good auto body shop should be able to help you but most definitely the dealer needs to be looking at this if it is a new car. Hopefully you can get resolved soon.
I’m brand new to Mercedes but an old hat at making my mods on engines. I’m a machinist by trade and have a basic understanding of engines and drive lines. I was given my 2002 C200 kompressor from my brother as a convenience thing and realized I really like the quality and the platform. I’ve decided I would like see how far I can push my new little engine and learn some cool stuff along the way.
Rick from New Hampshire, USA. Just bought our second MB - 2006 ML 350. Bought my dad's 2001 SLK 320 back in 2014. These forums are awesome and I appreciate all the input.

There is not much you can do other that spot repair or better re clear coat the whole part. There is no easy fix to this
Good evening,
I have recently bought my wife an MB GLC 250D with plenty of toys and gadgets and only 17000km on the clock.
The change to MB is going to be an interesting one for me--i have always been a VW / Audi follower having owned quite a few over the years. I bought the car from Melbourne and after an RACV inspection and all the usual checks me and my son flew down. Done a bit more haggling and got a good deal. The car has the command package, night vision package, driver assist package and the voice control system.
I'm hoping to learn Mercs, i'm looking at the software now then as i go i'll expand my tool kit to work on them.
Looking forward to getting to know MB
Laggy
I just bought a 2009 ML320 Bluetec with 168k km on it a week ago. I'm about to tackle a pre-emptive oil cooler seal replacement (yes I know...), so I figure after reading bunch of threads to help get me started that I might as well join

The panel (rear hatch cover?) definitely seems to have been repaired and repainted. The sanding patern shows that the emblem probably was not removed during the repair. In the "good old days" there was only one black paint on MBs (094 or 94 I think), but now you should have the dealer use the VIN to look up the correct paint code. Unless you are very very good at body repairs, I suggest that you find a body shop with good references for German cars and have the entire panel stripped, reprepped and repainted. A properly done repair with original materials should be as durable as the original paint job.
If the car was sold with a Car Facts or similar records scan service, there is some chance that you may have a claim through them.

2002/2003 were changeover years in the US and US cars wore a bit different badging. If you have the M111 (2.3L) engine, I think all is fine. The M271(1.8L) engine is known to have some (addressable) timing chain issues. The W203 Forum should lead you in the right direction.
