Hi guys,
I'm Doug and have just moved to the US from the UK.
I imported my Land Rover V8 with me but will be looking for a Mercedes soon. (currently drive a 96 Mustang as a runabout.....)
I am new to Mercedes so am not sure what model to get, I will need it for work, probably C or E class, but I want decent power really..
I am open to suggestions on models, budget of about $25,000.
would love an AMG but worried service costs could be high?? any thoughts??
Thanks
Hi my name is Jack im from Belgium living in South Korea. I currently own a E300 and a GLK220 CDI 4Matic diesel . I plan to buy more Mercedes-Benz over time. For a beginner i would like to know the best from here so i dont get scammed.
Hello I am new to this forum and the first thing I would like to say is I have always wanted to own a Mercedes so about 9 months ago I purchased a 2006 E350 the first thing I thought was damn this car looks good. Then the test drive and I was hooked the thing that made me really want this car, because I have read the horror stories about buying a used Mercedes but this car made every thing that a man loves about a luxury sports sedan tingle and the one thing that topped it was there was a Frank Sinatra CD in the CD player. so I thought Adult owned interior 10 out of ten exterior ten out of ten. I loved this car.
Flash forward 9 months on my way to work passing a car I hear a loud bang loss of power and so much white smoke out of the exhaust that I could hardly see the side of the road to pull over. I had it towed and that is why I am here tonight I need detailed instructions or maybe a video on removing the motor. Can anyone help me to get that smile back
like the day I drove my E350 home for the first time?

Reason: punctuation
Sorry to hear about the E350, but I have to ask.... on your way to work, when you passed that car.... where you doing 150 mph ?? because that can be the cause of your bang !!
Hi, my name is Daniel and I live in mid Missouri. I bought my first Mercedes, which is also my first diesel, six years ago. It is a 1980 300TD. I rescued it from a field where it had been sitting for eight years. The passenger side front window was broken out and it was a multi family apartment house for the local critters. It was love at first sight! Oh, I do love a challenge. I looked up the owner and we agreed on 500 bucks and he loaded it on a trailer and delivered it to my front yard. I am an old Motor Head, and after a month of forum lurking and wrenching I had it running. I put a thousand miles on the old Hankooks then bought my sweety some new shoes. She has been my daily driver ever since.
A few years back I bought a 1985 300TD on a salvage title with the intention of using the interior for the '80, but it is just too nice to take to bits. It just needs a transmission and a windshield. I'll get to it one of these days.
Today I just bought my very first car, a 1997 Mercedes E420; since I'm a DIYer I hope it'll be a good choice for me, and can't wait to learn all about this car.
Hello everyone!! My name is Manjot Singh but you can call me MJ. I live in Dubai and I drive a 2004 CL55 AMG. Drove a 2001 CL55 AMG before this and a 1998 SLK320 before that. I'd really appreciate if you guys can check out my post about getting my car painted. All the details are in my post. Thanks!!
Hi I'm new member, just bought an a208 2002 clk 430 cab, have had few Benz in the past, A45, ml320, w114 230.

Hi. I'm new to this community and hope that I'll be able to share tech info with others. My present situation is trying. Just bought an E320 2002 off of eBay motors. Well it came with loads of malfunctions. I'm hoping to find other members in the Rotterdam, NY area that may be able to help with a scan. If this car is salvageable I will buy the MB Star diagnostic Equip. to do my own service. Right now I'm looking for a helping hand. Any guidance you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul. limitlessprp@gmail.com
I am new to this forum. We are planning to get a used 2013 Benz GLK with the M276 DI Engine. I have learned about the carbon buildup issue with DI engines but have not been able to find anything related to this particular engine. For those of you who have this engine, have you experienced any carbon buildup by now? This engine has been in production for quite a few years now and I'm assuming that by now there should be enough sample size and mileage in relation to this issue. We really like the interior upgrades of the 2013 GLK compared to the 2012. However, the DI engine is a concern to us, and if the carbon buildup is an issue with this M276 engine, we are going to look into the 2012s withe M272 engine. Thank you!!!
Good evening ladies & gents, after neglecting MB's for many years, I am pleased to announce that I have returned to the fabled manufacturer & have a little CLK to play with
It's a 2.7 CDI with a few AMG accessories including grille, exhaust & alloys
It is in Iolite blue & has the special order black leather with blue inserts on the seats.
Just thought I'd share
I plan a few more upgrade mods over the coming months & will certainly check the posts here for help & advice
I've had 4 cars my entire life, and two were MB 560SEC's. Aside from the usual mechanical fixes, and the sometimes annoyingly over-engineered systems, (Climate Control System, Hydr. Leveling, Sunroof...etc.), but all in all...I'm very happy with what I have. I recently turned 76k miles and gave my '88 a thorough interior extreme make-over, beginning with total disassembly, then searching and removing dirt, debris and treating any rust with Hirsch's rust remove & paint prep, followed by a coat of Miracle Paint. http://www.hirschauto.com/ . Garage kept most of its life, I've been lucky so far to have found only minor rust damage in the trunk, under the spare, and a bit of surface rust in the bottom of the doors. Since I had it completely apart, (didn't remove the doors or seats) I replaced any worn or defective hardware with new, before reassembly to factory specs. Yes...even the factory engine decals /stickers. I then meticulously Sound proofed the entire cabin including doors, floors, side panels and trunk using: Damplifier Pro, Luxury Liner Pro. Currently in the process of doing the same on the undercarriage, and finishing the job with a layer of Spectrum Sludge. http://store.secondskinaudio.com/
I also replaced ALL of the light bulbs, inside and out with LED's (except the fog lights, which I tried but didn't like because they weren't nearly as bright). https://www.superbrightleds.com/proj...obile/top/264/ . I do almost all of the maintenance, (MB original parts only) except the stuff that needs factory trained tech expertise and tools. And I do all of the detailing using almost exclusively Griot's Garage products and their B.O.S.S. equipment. https://www.griotsgarage.com/ After nearly 30 years now, the paint looks like wet glass ;-)
Hello all! my name is Efrem and I live in PA (Harleysville) and my wife recently bought me a 1-owner 2003 clk430 convertible w/66kmiles for our 7yr wedding anniversary . It's black (preferred color)with a two-tone black/grey interior (not so much preferred). The forum has already proven extremely helpful, as I had the common abs Christmas tree lights come on. As such, I purchased and replaced the brake stop switch ($22 autozone) and that took care of that. I look forward to learning more from and hopefully contributing to the forum.
I'd like to do a few mods (hid/projector headlights & Double din radio and speakers) as well as general maintenance and repairs as needed. So I'll be searching the forum for advice/help. Additionally, I applied the parking brake by accident, as I didn't really need it, and upon releasing the parking brake, the light won't go out and I get the dreaded beeping when I start driving the car. I saw a post on a possible fix, that referenced lifting the rear seat and adjusting something, but can't seem to find it now . Anyway, happy to finally have my clk430 drop....been looking for quite some time. Did I mention I love my wife

I took the plunge and bought an '05 C230. That's the good news.
The bad news is that I'm going to have to replace the engine, due to the dreaded timing chain issue. (it snapped)
I have the engine and may need some help from the experts on here.
