The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Christmas present from my wife. Our second GLC300w, first was 2018 GLC300w also. Both have driving assistance and navigation packages. Dealer sales and service are the best I have encountered, and I have bought over 30 new cars. Good road trip car. Have lurked here since 2018 and want to thank y'all for lots of great information. Hopefully I can now help others. May the new year bring you health, happiness, and prosperity.

I just acquired my first Mercedes, a 2005 SL600. As it is my first experience with a Mercedes I am sure I am going to have many questions!
Alan
NEW TO THE FORUM JUST BOUGHT A 2016 S63 COUPE AMG AND THOUGHT I WOULD DROP INTO THE FORUM TO SAY HELLO !
FOUND FORUMS INVALUABLE FOR MY OTHER CARS SO HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND THIS ONE.
ANYTHING I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE S63 COUPE? I HAVE ALREADY READ ABOUT A TRANSMISSION RESET IS THIS WORTH DOING UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP?
These cars are solid with no known issues the air suspension if it has it can cause issues.
Mercedes have resolved all the electrical Gremlin’s of the previous SL
Make sure it’s got service history and check the mileage is correct because it’s shocking how easy it is to edit the clocks on these older beasts
If budget allows you are better off buying a good quality C3 system which will save you 1000's in the long run
Because this Mercedes has so many systems and sensors that get triggered from time to time with no actual fault, it gets expensive to take it to the garage just to turn dash lights out even worse they replace things and charge you silly money just because they can. It’s better to know what the problem is exactly before you take it to the shop and this will let you know who is honest and who to avoid.
Don’t let anyone sell you a poor quality system or the much more expensive c4
I got mine from a guy in England I highly recommend him
He is very good at after sales
https://www.obdstore.co.uk/product/m...ostics-system/
So if the miles are correct then go for it they are only going to go up in price
I emphasize that MB never made an SL that didn’t become a classic and started going up in value
Please feel free to introduce yourself in this section.
Enjoy!!

A 200 lbs MB owner from Slovenia/Europe... 30 years of driving experiences... starting with WV bug... and now owning a Merceds-Benz since 2012. It's a 2007 black station wagon W203 C220 CDI (380.000km on) which is soon to be replaced with something completely different.
Its nothing wrong with my W203 but I've somehow almost lost that joy ride feeling. My first thought about new used vehicle was a GLK but then I've remembered that we had a test GLK for few days back in 2009 and it was not so fun to drive as even baby BMW X1 which we also had chance to test for few days.
As I'm getting older, I've noticed getting in and out of a C class is not so comfortable anymore and so I'm aiming at SUV. A ML caught my attention. Since I don't earn so much I can't really afford something more fresh but a 2007-8-9 ML 320 cdi.
I've never used financing for my car purchases but only straight cash...This corona mess we're all into, inflated my budget a little since there is no concerts, travel restrictions and pubs are closed.too.

Checking only used vehicles that fit within the budget and they are not more then 10 in my area.
Just today I made a call to my trusty repairman and asked him if he will repair ML if I buy it... he said YES and that's very good... TBH i'd rather take different car then switch to another mechanic. We had quite a long conversation and he comfort me about airmatic not being so expensive now-days. The most important thing he stressed:... just make sure it is not leaking oil from the engine. I'm totally aware that fuel consumption will be almost double but the heck... you only live once. Midlife crisis I guess.

I am a French car enthousiast near Paris.
I'm not a MB owner but I'm seriously considering to purchase a C55 AMG W203 or E55 AMG W211 next year. I'm here in order to learn a lot of things !
For the moment I have a 525i E34 from 1993. A great and oldschool BMW. But I'm going to sell it and save money to have a decent budget.
Thanks and have a nice day !
MY2011 C207 E550 16K miles (at time of photo)
I've just become the new custodian of an MY11 E550 coupe.
I'll be sprinting up that learning curve. Please be patient with my n00b queries - I will search before I ask. I promise.
Other Deutsche vehicles in the stable: VW Golf Sportwagen and a BMW S1000RR (2-wheeled variety).
The E550 replaces a Swedish convertible rocket.
Cheers!

- Regular servicing according to the dash prompts (done by me with OEM parts)
- It has on two occasions, the engine has lost power while driving long distance on the highway, and normal speed and temperature. Pulling over, switching off the engine and re-starting fixes it, but no error codes or CEL (WTAF?)
- The car has always had a buggered coolant thermostat - so it throws a CEL every now and then, when the temp goes below 80°C. A thermostat replacement is a huge job; taking out the inlet manifold etc, so it will stay like that!
- Replaced headlight globes that died.
- Left fog light / driving light smashed (maybe by a stone?), Replaced with OEM part (why would a light that low, be made of glass, and then without a replaceable lens???) MA 212 820 09 56
- Front brake pads Ferodo FBD1978 (131,197km)
- Gearbox output shaft seal started leaking : replaced with new OEM part. MA015 997 12 46 (140,921 km)
- Clutch started slipping at 146,994 km; replaced with an LUK DMF and clutch set imported from Germany (624 3780 09 and 415 0881 10), also replaced the slave cylinder MA015 997 12 46
- The heated oxygen sensor #2, downstream of the cat died and threw a CEL. (158,879 km) Replaced with a Bosch part from Germany, which solved the problem. (I'm saving a good deal shipping from Germany, instead of buying from M-B South Africa, who have prevented local part suppliers from selling equivalent parts.)
It's really light on fuel on long drives though, and it's pretty effortless, average of 6.4 litres/100km at about 120km/hr (36.75mpg for the non-metric people). Average since owning the car, including town driving has been 8.06 l/100km.
Cheers.
