Hello MBWorld! I've just purchased my first Mercedes in Austin, TX, a 2013 C250. Fun little car so far, looking forward to being around this forum and finding out more about the car. Looking to add another one to the stable in a couple years, but in the AMG line. This replaced a King Ranch F150 that I decided had too many miles/issues and I wanted something semi-nimble and fun under 17k.
The car has 47k miles, nearly pristine, 16.5K sticker. There are only very minor nicks on the front, which is surprising for the mileage and age of the car. The color is Iridium Silver, gray interior. Fairly loaded, premium sound, etc. There is a E/S button down by the gear selector, it has the sport suspension and package according to the VIN, but I don't see the button by the hazard that I have seen.
Hi everyone, I've recently read some threads on MBWorld and found it very useful and thought I would join. Jy name is Johan van Niekerk, I'm from Cape Town, South Africa. Recently got a 2014 ML350 BlueTec W166 and I'm planning to do a few upgrades and repairs. Good day to all.
I have 2 oem 17” amg rims that are chipped and I’m not sure what to do to them, obviously my solution to my dilemma was to replace them but I was wondering if I could repair them! Any thoughts?
When the lip is cut badly, they cannot be properly repaired.

Reason: Attempted to Delete my answer to a post that was clearly not relevant to thread.
I've been silently lurking and reading this forum for 10 years now and finally decided to join. (I'm not a joiner as you can tell).
I've taken the name Stirling Moss, as I've met him a few times and he's a magnificent human being.
Of course the 722 refers to his Mille Miglia starting time in 1955, an epic race that he won with Denis Jenkinson, just before MB pulled out of competition, after the 1955 LeMans tragedy.
My 1st MB was an S600 LWB, and I've had roughly 35 cars total in my lifetime.
Here's one of my current cars, a SL600 AMG, 20" Savini rims, Kleemann ECU, Michelin 4s, etc.
Very Honored to be here...

hello from Cincinnati Ohio! long time lurker first time poster, just got lucky enough to rejoin the Mercedes world with an 03 c32
I've been a superturbodiesel forum member for while and a long time 123 owner so jumping into a car with zero to 60 measured in seconds
instead of minutes has been pretty awesome!
hello to everyone, great site, can anyonetell me my paint code by vin number pleaseWDB2084652T052582
I tried to start a new thread, but couldn,t find how to post, hello to you all and thank you
Hi everyone, I'm lapsed member so think of me as a 'new' newbie!
Hello to all the present and past members, it's good to be back.
I have a 2002 W163 ML500...and I love it! I've had it for 8 years and been fastidious with its maintenance. Whenever it gets any sort of problem I get it fixed straight away. I only run 98 Ron premium fuel and get all the oils changed every 5000 k's. The car has always purred like a kitten...just magnificent on long cruises to see friends in the bush.
But now I have a problem and its intermittent. When I'm in stop start city traffic the car will sometimes fail to accelerate...it feels like a massive loss of power/fuel. It's always at low revs, once I'm up and running the fault disappears. Some days when driving to work it doesn't happen, so its very hard to get the mechanic to diagnose the issue.
The first thing he tried was to change the air intake feed. (It connects to the ECU and through this the fuel flow is regulated is what the mechanic told me) It was fine for two days then it started to happen again. Next he replaced the entire fuse box. Not only did this fix the problem but a dash cluster light that was out came on again! But alas after a weekend road trip of over 600 Kilometres - without a problem and purring like a kitten - once back to work on Monday the fault started again!
The check engine light has come on, but then the next day its out. he did a diagnostic and found the check engine data that said it was a 'power to the sensor' problem. When it happens I will clear the 'flat spot' if I put the accelerator to the floor...but in city stop start driving...not very safe.
Anyway I'm now getting very frustrated. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so know how to fix it?

Thanks for reading, all the best.
Stu.
You put your foot down, and it BOGS,
- A/F mixture is off, or spark is cold
- MAF sensor dirty (?)
- Pedal Accelerator Sensor (?)
- Throttle Position Sensor (?)
- Fuel injectors dirty, (just clean 'em, Red Line Injector cleaner)
- Deteriorating manifold gasket (?)
- Pinhole vacuum leak in an out of sight vacuum line. (?)
- Dirty intake filter (?)
- EGR valve (?)
- O2 Sensors (?)
- Throttle body clean, clear, and free (?)
- Dirty fuel line (?)
- Fuel pump (?)
- Bad Fuel / Contaminated (?)
- Voltage Irregularity at low revs?
- How old is your battery? (!!!)
- Distributor (?)
- Battery / Coil / Fuse Box (?)
- Spark plugs old or fouled?... (replace em)
- Supercharger? (reduce the spark plug gap, so the spark doesn't blow out)
If his on going electrical inspection does not fix it... then...
A) He should definitely inspect the intake manifold area for a slight leak. (they used to listen for it in the old days with a tube, or stethoscope... )
B) If found, it has to be removed from the block & a new gasket simply installed, and properly sealed with RTV.
C) If that is NOT the problem, check everything possibly related to the intake, the intake filter, EGR, MAF, Throttle body, Throttle Position Sensor, etc., etc., or otherwise look for vacuum line leak.
D) Assuming he has (mandatory) OBD plug in to the car's computer, diagnosing should not be difficult.
IMHO, its not a hard thing to find and correct, (assuming he is a Mercedes certified mechanic, and has the correct device to diagnose, pull codes, and reset).
Hope this helps...
Best of Luck!

Thanks Stirling,
That gives me a lot to go forward with.
So far New MAF sensor - didn't fix it.
Does it when car is either hot or cold.
Foot down clears it, feathering doesn't.
Battery only 4 months old.
Spark Plugs 12 months old - top of the line.
Only use high octane 98 Ron fuel
I'll test for manifold leaks this weekend...fingers crossed!
Just got this last week. Within days started getting consumer not available notifications. While on my way to get a battery I got the red battery sign on the dash. Changed it consumer battery. Car starts fine. Another forum said it'll go away eventually. Any suggestions? This is not a good start to the relationship. I expected some maintenance, but this escalated quickly!!!

Your car looks beautiful!
Absolutely Gorgeous.
Unless the battery was recently changed, battery problems are normal whenever you buy any used car. Period.
It is one of the FIRST things that should be eventually changed out after buying a used car
WHY?
Batteries usually are good for 2-3 years and that's it. If you use them longer you risk damaging electronic components if the battery is unstable (reverse polarity) or inconsistent / off voltage. Voltage on a a 12 volt battery should read 14.4 volts fully charged.
I would suggest reading this forum, doing a search under battery / battery problems / voltage, or as far as rest, consulting your car manual or You Tube. There are MANY good videos by MB mechanics trying to help the public.
Hope this helps.

Mr Anthony P, I have a Mercedes CLS CD1 non amg package with the double Louvre grill
Please can some one advice me on the following
I have a Mercedes350 CLS CDI model 2011non amg spec; double Louvre grill and a different front bumper to my wife’s model of the same year but hers has the amg spec sports model with single Louvre grill and a slightly different front to mine . I obviously do like her model better with the single Louvre grill and want to swap my grill to look the same , can this transformation be done simply, as both models slightly look the same from the front. I have purchased the front bumper and single grill , and wandered can this transformation be done Simply by exchanging one for another.?
Checking in from Atlanta. Just purchased an 2007 S550 Iridium Silver with 114 K on the dial. First Benz coming from Bimmerland (740i, 750il 12 cylinder, wife owns 330ix). S550 engine above listed problem numbers, all servicing done at local Benz dealers on schedule with replacement of bushings, cam sensors, mounts and air suspension compressor the only repairs. I passed on an S600 a few years back and had an Acura RL squeezed in there as well. Looking forward to enjoying the car. First changes after doing due diligence will be Akebono pads and a rear camera for easier parking. I have learned a great deal here already and look forward to so much more.
