Just joined...
Hello all,
Stumbled across your forum a while back while researching some problems with my car and figured I need to join. My name is Jim and I purchased my first MB in June of '14. It is a 2001 E430 and had 31,700 miles on it when purchased. It is the car in my avatar.
I have been into vintage Land Cruisers for the past 25+ years and came across this deal on the E430. I really wish I would have gotten one sooner. I do almost all of my own work and so far I have replaced all 4 cats, replaced valve cover seals, plugs and plug wires, misc. cosmetic and trim items, new tires, serpentine belt.
Yesterday, I made a somewhat fatal mistake of disconnecting my battery while replacing the right rear door window actuator. Now, the rear dome light won't go off and the parking lights don't flash when arming the alarm. Still waiting for parts so the interior door panel is still off. I will report what may or may not self correct after repair is complete.
Anyways, happy to be here.
Jim

Welcome to MBWorld Jim and grats on scoring that really low mileage E class. Yeah, battery disconnect causes all sorts of issues with MB and I've heard stories where it took several repeat STAR sessions to get things sorted out. Hopefully your road to recovery is a short one.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I believe my problem with the battery disconnect will correct itself once my repairs are complete. Both symptoms indicate, falsely, that the rear door is still open.
Not ready for brighter lights just yet, but I will bookmark your lights for future.
