Hi folks, new to MBWorld.
I have always wanted an old Mercedez since I was young, so recently I joined the club.
I've been doing mechanic for a long time now but I never touched "une allemande".
I wanted to begin with simple mechanics, before the "era" of multiple computers controlled car.
So I grabbed a 1986 420SEL last week.
Shifting was a bit hard from 1st to 2nd speed, the guy told me it always been like that for 15 years..
Found a thread here talking about the modulator valve, I adjusted mine and the shifts are way smoother now.
Fluids maintenance is probably due, so I'm buying various fluids right now to do the changes.
Anyway, glad to be here !
