Sound system upgrade for 2016 GLE 350
Hi all
I am new here. Just bought the 2016 GLE 350 sport with night package, crystal grey leather in polar white. I love this car sooo much! It's beautiful. Just ordered the illuminated star to be put in next week and tinted the front windows to match the back. It's such an amazingly beautiful car. My only complaint is the sound system could be better. It's not the upgraded system. At first I thought I could just call my dealer and have the upgraded harmen/kaden installed, but after reading some of the forums here it seems that is not really an option unless I pay an absurd amount of money. One thread I read said 10000-20000 dollars for installing the Burmirster at the dealership!!! To my savvy fellow mb owners. What are my options for improving my sound system? Has anybody done this after purchasing?
Suggestions?

Couple things. Turn the bass on the head unit all the way down. -10 I think is the max. Then turn the trebble up. Listen to some music decently loud, and see if you like the sound. If you do, I would just add a sub and an amp, and have a shop build you a custom box.
If it doesn't sound good TO YOU, might want to get new doors and amp them as well. I have only a sub and stock speakers in my E and it sounds really good

SPONSOR/MBworld Guru
Welcome to MBWorld. Honestly, you'd probably be better off going aftermarket sound system than the static box units offered by MB. Take it to a quality audio shop and see what they suggest. Harman Kardon and Burmester are ok, but you can get better for cheaper.

That's what I'm going to do then. Thanks

Update
Any updates on this? I have the same issue. Black GLE 350 with night package and LED active lighting kit. Looking to install a small 8-10” sub. Curious if I can buy the Harmon Kardon subwoofer and just have that hooked up. I just want everything to be discrete and hidden.

Here is a W166 subwoofer https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Be...7Lcz:rk:1:pf:1
Don't know if it is plug and play. Unless you have the knowledge, it might take a specialist audio shop to get it to work, or a full HK Logic7 installation.
