W124 te turbo project
Hello all,
Lets introduce myself, im Martijn from the Netherlands. Since a year i bought a w124 te and an M104 engine. First the car would be the side project to restore it a bit. But now i shifted the build of the m104 turbo engine further back. Dit lots of welding on the car, and im not done yet! Here are some impression pictures of the project.
Currently im doing a complete subframe overhaul and fitting a w203 6 speed gearbox behind the m103 engine with the 765 sachs pressure plate and 6 plate sinter clutch.

Nice dyno numbers. Where are the rear fender flares? One of the earlier photos seemed to show a vehicle with both front and rear fender flares. Nice project!

Unfortunately the fun did not last long.
it started with a blown headgasket, the head was just lifted, the original bolts were no match for the force... It turned out a little worse.😅
- 1 broken piston
- 4 bent rods
- the failure of the piston might have happened because of the bending rod.
So to me it is clear with all the high hp numbers on these stock engines have mostly been run on e85. The fuel i used was 98ron and added 10% ethanol. And this was without any knocking.
First the next step was, when i didnt know about the damage, to cnc machine the combustion chamber to make it flow better. However at the flat spot of the heart shaped combustion chamer is not that much material to cut into.
Behind that there is a large chamber of water.
Therefore i will be putting the M104 engine in with shorter rods....blasphemy for the squish but ohwell.
I am hoping i can make the turbos fit on the m104 head without changing the position. Just like with the mosselman manifolds.
