Fuel pump relay keeps blowing

2001 Mercedes clk55 amg
Fuel pump relay keeps blowing
Hey guys 2001 clk55 amg here has been sitting for years I tow it home put a fuel pump on it, and a filter,, fires right up,, I drive it for a few days and it does,, I concluded it was the relay,, I replaced it and it fired up again, but 15 mins later died again,, what would cause it to keep blowing relays? Check all the wires you fitted to the fuel pumps .You might have them in reverse . Also earth points on the fuel pum to body. This might be missing .Also my first check would be to find the right part number for your relay and see if yours is the same . If wrong relay is fitted it will work for a short time .Also the same applies to your fuel pump .Overloading of the fuel pump relay due to the wrong fuel pumps . Please let us know how you get on with this .

Welcome could be a bad fuel filter or sludge in the gas tank that is clogging the lines. If there was sludge in fuel lines it would travel to the new filter and clog it. you should have drain the gas tank also before you started it up.

Filter can cause this ,,.and the wrong pump ,,or relay . Just because the parts look the same, the numbers must match the part you removed .Or get numbers for the items that shoiuld be fitted and compare them with those in your car. Most owners not knowing any better just look at the part and in their minds eye view right away think its the one . . So what numbers do you have on your relay,, and pump ,,so we can check to see it those are the right parts for your car .
