Never in a million years!
So........here I am!
As the thread title reads, never in a million years did I ever think I'd be joining a Mercedes forum. Been a lotta that going around for me lately. Besides buying the Mercedes, I also might be picking up a 2020 Kia Stinger this weekend, we'll see. I've only owned American cars for my entire adult life. Pontiac's mostly. Owed an.........

07 Grand Prix gt supercharged (basically like a gtp but they dropped the name)
Currently own a 01 Ford Lightning, 16 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so yeah Benz is way out in left field for me. The 07 was my dd that only had about 116k and was intended to go to my son who turned 16 this year. Unfortunately I recently crashed and totaled out the car. Sucks cuz that car was super reliable, cheap, looked decent, Had basically all the options you could get on one, was easy to work on and was still "kinda quick" buy 2007 standards.
Fast forward to today, I'm in the process of possibly buying an 05 E320 4Matic with only 38k. The car belongs to my wife's bosses Husbands Mother (you follow) Was bought new by her husband a gentleman in his 80's. He drove it a little bit and had it serviced at the Benz dealer. He's since passed away. His wife wants to sell the car as it doesn't get driven much anymore. Before covid, they were gonna put the car on CL for about 6500. They tried to trade it in on a new Subaru but basically said they were insulted buy what they offered them given the condition and extremely low mileage. After looking at it, they said they'd come down to 5700, basically because they know us. The wife who is also older, said she cannot find any of the maintenance paperwork because he (her husband) did everything with it. I called the local Benz dealer and they said they couldn't give me maintenance records unless I was the actual owner. The son, since the Dad passed, was bringing the car to a local shop and I called them up they told me it had a couple oil changes and tire rotations the past could years but nothing major. The car doesn't have the airmatic suspension, which is a relief but I've been hearing about this balance shaft issue. Is the e320 affected? What about the SBC?
Also, the intent of buying this car would be for me to drive once in a while but mainly for my son. It's 4matic so hopefully it's safer for him given half the year it snows bad here in MN. The ins is actually not horrible either, its about what I pay for the Lightning. Given the low miles, is the reliability worth the price? I feel like it is but idk **** about Mercedes. What do you all think? Sorry for the long winded intro!

Car has a few cosmetic issues......1 hail dent on the trunk lid, a few scratches, and a rust spot on the edge of the door. Will definitely need some new pads and tires at some point. I was thinking about polishing up the chrome grill but a replacement unit seems to be pretty cheap and easy to install.
