Does it harm the finish underneath?
Does it protect the finish underneath?
Is it a substitute for a thick coat of wax, ceramic or otherwise?

I like the matte black finish.
That style of finish appeals to my sensibility of subtle.
I like understated, covert, camo, blending.
I like it because of life experience (subdued military insignia), and because of societal influences from Hollywood.
There was a movie called “The Wraith”
A car was the main player in the move, and it had a killer matte/stealth/camo full treatment.
I like it when badging and insignia are so subtle that you don’t notice them unless you look very closely.
If that is the look you are going for, you are doing well getting there.
