New Member from Florida – Exploring the E350
New member here from Florida. I’ve been doing some research on the E-Class—specifically the E350—and figured it was time to join and learn from people who actually own and work on these cars.
I’ve mostly been in the VW world (currently in a Golf R), but I’m starting to see why my dad has always appreciated Mercedes. Availability and the overall balance of comfort/performance have me really interested in making the jump.
Looking forward to learning more about common pitfalls, maintenance expectations, and what to look for when buying.
Appreciate any guidance you all are willing to share.

I was actually referring to the Mercedes-Benz W213, but I’ve been seeing more about the Mercedes-Benz W214 lately, and it’s definitely caught my attention. That review helps put some real-world perspective around it.
Coming from outside the MB world, I’m still trying to get a feel for how much has changed between the two generations—especially in terms of driving feel vs. tech. The W213 seems like that sweet spot of “modern but still driver-focused,” but the W214 looks like a pretty big leap forward.
Curious—having spent time with it, do you feel like the W214 is worth the jump, or does the W213 still hold its ground pretty well?

I think of the W214 as an evolution than revolution to the W213. You can't go wrong with either.
Due to the screens, the front passenger seat has less leg room than the W213.
Getting in and out might be a tad more difficult as well.
The W214 is more quiet and more mini S-Class than ever before but still not really an S-Class so as long as you don't expect it to be an S-Class you will be satisfied.
The main learning curves are the screen but once you get a hang of it, it is not difficult.
Just have a good cloth ready to wipe all the fingerprints, if you are concerned of scratches on the piano gloss plastic, consider PPFing it.
I say the main upgrade of the W214 is the infotainment and a tad bit longer than the W213?
Depending on if you are getting the facelift W213 or not, it will or will not have the 48V mild hybrid system.
While MB's 48V mild hybrid system came a long way, it is still less reliable than say a traditional system so keep that in mind as well.
I would avoid getting first model year (2024 for the W214, 2017 for the W213 both of applies to North America, Europe is one model year-ish earlier).
Last but not least get a PPI for all used vehicles.

Thank you!
After seeing the screen, I thought PPF would be a solid option. As for the hybrid - I do wish they still made the V6, but after testing one - slowly - growing on me.
And thank you for the reading material.
