(FS) For Sale: 2002 Porsche Turbo / Silver & Black / Lightly Modified
2002 Porsche 911 Turbo
Silver with Black Leather
60.5k
Reason for sale:
I have to get rid of the car to make some money available for an investment. Car has been great to me and I was planning on keeping it for another 3 years or so but this a very promising investment. My GT3 fund disappeared too =(. I'm sure in good time I'll be back in another one. Maybe a white one next time. Car has been properly mechanically maintained. Runs great and strong with no hiccups. The clutch link modification makes its very easy to drive with or without an aftermarket race clutch (OEM clutch currently installed). Has just been serviced with a complete fluid flush and replacement, oil change, etc.
Not looking to part out because I'd prefer a quick sale. I'm not asking for my money "back" on any of these mods. You are basically just getting them. The full list is below. In the pictures you see a Pioneer navigation double din unit, that is the only thing that will NOT come with the car, the OEM head unit will go back.
It has never been in an accident. Its been used as a daily driver so there is some normal wear and tear. Nothing major at all, car looks great. Its been a "commuter" car by me and the first owner. The original owner was a corporate executive, an older gentleman who commuted in this car and drove his GT2 on the weekends. Its never been tracked.
Rear spoiler hydraulic system is not working properly, very common on these cars (search). It does raise and lower with speed but button control can only raise and not lower. I meant to replace the whole decklid with a GT2 decklid and harness but I want to get rid of the car so no sense in doing it. Currently has a GT2 add-on wing though with the hydraulic system just disconnected. The spoiler dash light turns on, a GT2 or custom harness just needs to be added to disactivate.
Wheels have some little paint nics. The wheels were painted instead of powdercoated in case I did not like the look. I actually loved the look much more than the chrome lip/custom gunmetal theme I had before. OEM CF Steering wheel and aluminum shift knob have some noticeable wear. The ebrake boot could use a new replacement.
The electronic key latch module on the driver's side has gone bad so the keyless entry doesn't work. This has also made the airbag light go off on the dash. I've gotten it checked out by a Porsche technician and he has confirmed that the small module is the source of this problem.
Car is in great shape, no BS. Give me a call if you are interested as I would like to get rid of her soon. Weekends are usually the best times to come see the car because I won't be at work. If you want to meet any other time give me a call and we'll figure it out. Thanks.

Performance-wise, anybody know how this generation of 911 Turbo would fair against a W211 E55? I know it handles better, but what about straight-line speed?

IMHO you can't compare this cars. I love Mercedes Benz cars but I have owned several Porsche cars as well, It is a very different kind of animal. The Porsche is all about the way it drives in and out of a bend. I've been driving for the last almost 30 years and I consider myself a good driver ( Advance driving course, Silverston Driving school, Police Driving School) but regardless of all this training I never managed to push my Porsche "to the point of not return" I drove it around some very fine tracks around UK, Germany and here in the US, but the Porsche is much more of a car than I am a driver
