CLK200 Kompressor
Installing Carlsson CK20 pulley kit
I live in Singapore, cars here are extremely expensive, a CLK 200 Kompressor costs about US$150,000. I am buying a Carlsson CK20 pulley kit, I would appreciate any instructions, in English, for installing it. I have a copy of the instructions from Carlsson which is translated from German, the Chinese mechanics here find it a little difficult to follow.
Has anyone fitted this kit? If so are there any comments regarding sattisfaction

Carlsson pulley kit now installed
The pulley kit is now installed, the job was done in 3 hours and went very smoothly. The results are excellent, acceleration is greatly improved, torque improvement is very very noticeable, the performance of the car is now similar to that of a CLK320.
I have fitted 19inch Brabus rims, with 235x35x19 Pirelli Dragon tires all round, this is a tire made for the Asian market and slots between the P7000 and PZero.
There is no deterioration in ride quality, in fact the tires are very quite compared to my previous Michelin 17inch sport.
The interior is a custom job in red and grey leather with red stitching, which looks magnificent with the hood down.
Headlights are converted to HID
There is a Brabus body kit to fit which is on order.
The car is 1 year old with just 10,000 miles on the clock
When all is done I will post photographs

Hey 209 Mad
I am patiently waiting for the Brabus kit, should be here next Monday.Since my last post I have lowered the car on Eibach springs.
How do I post pictures? I will post them on the 209 thread when all is done.

Wow! Nice to hear from fellow Singaporeans!
OK, I'm also thinking of enhancing the E200K (M271) engine as well. I know the Kleemann kit can be had from Benzline. What does the Carlson kit have? Similar to the Kleemann? Which is better? Where did you get your kits?
Thanks!

I got the kit from Autovox, it consists of 2 pulleys, air filter, air filter oil and air filter cleaner. You can get all details from the Carlsson web site.
I dont know which is the better kit, but the overall increase in performance from the Carlsson kit is very noticeable, the torque and acceleration is greatly improved.
The body kit should be fitted this week, I will post pics on the 209 thread when its all completed

Hmm, very similar to Kleemann, except Kleemann's kit has a K-Box ECU bypass optimised to their kit.
What's the warranty like from Autovox for the Carlsson kit?

CLK200 Kompressor
3 years or 100,000 kms.
I did not go for the Kleeman because I did not want to mess with any ECU settings, the one in the CLK is quite sensitive so i figured best not to fool around.
I have just ordered another set for a friend of mine to install in a C230 Kompressor, he was very impressed with the result on my car.

The Kleemann pulley kit was a steal. It comes with the pulley, K&N Air Filter, Fuel Regulator and the Kleemann K-Box. I paid S$3,500.
We should meet sometime and check the performance between these 2 pulleys

slkfans, I assume you got your Kleemann kit from Benzline also? $3.5K inclusive of installation? Where did they do the installation, since Benzline is a retail front and not a garage? Warranty? Also, do you have to go back to them for servicing? Thx!

Kudos to you guys! It's a bummer my car doesn't have a Kompressor, its very limited what I can do to my car in terms of performance. Kleeman offers a supercharger which would cost me an arm and a leg, so I'm not even asking! If you guys are having a bake off between tuners, please provide the details, I'd like to come watch.

High quality tuning always has its price....I you want more power you will have to pay for it! Can you imagine how much time and money are needed to develop a reliable and effective supercharger until it is ready for sale? Engine tuning is not the same thing like buying a set of cheap copy wheels!

3.5k excludes installation, $500 for the installation as it takes approx 6 hours. Warranty is one year...so far so good.
The other thing I did was to upgrade my intercooler. Wow, that makes a difference indeed.

slkfans,
Automobil Manufactur used to offer their pulley kit with intercooler at $8K. So the Kleeman kit is $4K inclusive of installation. How much is the intercooler? Same garage as Benzline?
I suppose you should be pulling approx 200bhp with 300Nm. Dynoed the setup? Any difference to engine noise/sound since the upgrade? FC?
Really interested in this, so appreciate your reply. Thanks in advance!

ECU upgrade
Do any of you guys have experience with ECU upgrades for the SLK 200?
There is one offerred in Singapore by Benzline: MKB
They claim it cannot be detected and therefore will not void your warranty.

I had my ECU chipped by MKB. Obviously it is much better than stock. But with the crank pulley upgrade, that will be a big difference. I believed that the stock BHP is 163HP for the SLK 200 Kompressor. I dynoed my car and it turns out to be 173 HP at the wheels which I am comfortable.

Did they still offer the pulley kit ? Exactly, $4k includes the installation. I purchased the intercooler from Australia, you will have to be selective with the intercooler or it will cause a lag. The intercooler is approx $600 excludes freight.
Yes I did a dyno and it exhibits 173 HP at the wheels which works out to be approx 216 BHP. I don't hear any significant noise level to the engine with the pulley upgrade.
Cheers !

Automobil Manufactur has stopped their M271 kit upgrade, citing lack of market demand.
Looks like the options are Carlsson and Kleemann now. I thought you installed the Kleemann kit, which includes the ECU bypass K-Box. Why did you chip your ECU by MKB then?

Are your upgrades for the R 171 SLK 200?
How much did you pay Benzsolution/Benzline for the MKB Ecu upgrade.
Right now there are quoting Sin$2,700.
I am thinking of putting in the MKB ECU upgrade followed after my first 10,000 service with C&C , with the Carlsson CK20 (from Autovox).
