Dynograph G55 K2.......how much Crank HP?
...........stock, K1 and K2 respectively.
I know this has been beaten to death, but is the drive train loss for a truck like a G55 the same as for a sedan?

The drivetrain loss is considerably higher on the G vs a sedan. The 4 wheel drive sytems, differentials, etc., are really beefy on the G and they soak up a lot of power. When my 2003 G55 was stock it put just over 70% of the Mercedes advertised crank horsepower to the wheels. It would be safe to say that drivetrain lose on the G is at least 25%. Estimates of drivetrain loss and dyno accuracy are always open to debate. You're making about 600+ crank HP in my estimate. Your vehicles weight and trap times would also lead me to belive that the 600+HP is an accurate figure. Very impressive vehicle.

....thanks. I am making 529lbft of torque to the wheels. If I use the .75 drive train loss then it means the truck is making an insane 705lbft of torque. A magazine has expressed interest in doing a write up on the car after the next set of mods. They do not do their own independent dyno testing and they publish HP and torque in crank HP terms. It is not a major magazine outfit. I did not want to appear to stretch the figures.

Ted,
Dynojet's tend to over estimate torque slightly but I wouldn't let it concern you. They give you an estimate and each dyno has its own variance so numbers can be debated all day long. You've proven your vehicle's power by taking it to the track and can back up these numbers with a time slip. You're really making me miss my G55 and I may have to go check out the '05's.
BTW, Kleemann is working on a 5.5L stroker engine right now that will have about 6.2L of displacement. They are also dropping in lower compression pistons allowing them to crank up the boost. Please buy this engine so I can live through you for a while! Thanks.

.......regarding the larger displacement engine by Kleemann, it will be interesting to see how much HP it makes.

I'm jealous.
How is it as a daily driver? I can't afford 2 Gs. I've been telling myself the G500 is probably better suited for my use. I'm afraid if I got a G55K my around town use (Chicago has horrible streets) and off road would suffer. If only I could have a G55K for a "keeper" special use car.
Did you upgrade the brakes any?
I may have some ideas on disabling the ESP for a faster start. Can't test until next week though.
Take care.
Once again, I'm jealous.
