How to disable ESP for dyno?
I'd like to know how you can completely disable ESP for dyno testing? Also, anyone know a place that has a dyno around Boston? Thanks.

Just press the ESP switch, then the orange light should show on the cluster, that meant it off. But when you dyno your car the orange light will still flash but it does not really do anything. I dyno my Slk 230 before. Trust me, you call cal Dynospot etc. and ask.

ESP light
I think ESP will kick back on (even if disabled) if it detects wheelspin and your going more than 8mph
That was the case when I was drag racing.... but now that I think about it.... I guess the difference is that the front wheels aren't rotating on a dyno
so I guess it still makes sense

I think that when the ESP kick-in, it might just apply brake to the front wheel and since you are on the dyno, the front wheels is not moving therefore it would not effect your dyno result. Does it make sense. I think only mbtech208 or Kleemann can explain this.

KLEEMANN C230K
It will actually apply the brakes to the rear wheels under "wheelspin" conditions, not the front.
The best way to turn it off is to pull the relay, or disconnect the pump at the source.
KLEEMANN may be able to give you the details on the latter.
John.

I have been told that turning the ESP off via the dash mounted switch doesn't really turn the ESP totally off. What it does it reduce the ESP activation threashold by approx 20%.

If you want to totally turn it off do a search on this forum. I think someone listed on how to totally turn it off but i'm not sure if it applies to your model???

That tip was only for the C-Class (W203) models.

the only way I know to turn off the traction control 100% is to buy a module from MKB. Otherwise, get your car dyno'd on a Dynapack chassis dyno. It connects directly your rear in place of your wheels. It is unaffected by traction control issues.

JamE55,
I think that was mbtech208 that should us how to disable the ESP but only for the C32, i believe. As for turn off ESP at dyno, that is what ****'s at Dynospotracing told. Even though the ESP light is still flashing but he said that it does not effect your dyno result. Dynospotracing have dyno machine themself too. If you check their's wed site at www.dynospotracing.com, you will see the Slk 230 on their's dyno machines.
