The R Class Lives On!

If your on this board than you are either an owner of an R class like myself, or you love the looks of this crazy wagon and want one for yourself. Well the good news is, the R class shall live on for at least a few more years. The first version to hit market will be an updated version of the current R class for 2010. If any of you have read any of my previous posts it would seem that Benz was listening to my thoughts lol. A new front clip with a larger grille and squared off headlights, new mirrors, and new taillights, all of which I mentioned. Hopefully it puts the styling more in line with the current SUV lineup (ML,GL,GLK). Then for 2013 an all new version could debut (crosses fingers), although at this point the GLK and new E are swaying me away little by little.

There is a $15k cash back option on all current dealer stock R classes from MB (no special orders). Its been that way since mid 2008. The offer was supposedly only good for a certain number of months, but its been carried over for 2009. I'm not 100% sure its an official MB offer, but my dealership is up front with it and advertises it.

Does that 15000 cash back apply to left over 2008 as well as 2009 R Class?

Is it dealer cash or to the buyer? I can't find anything on it. PM me or leace details here? Where is your dealer located? I am in Northeast

I've seen what is called Marketing Support from MB to dealers. I think it is valid early January 2009 to early Feb 2009. If you add the difference between invoice and sticker - you may get close to the $15k (I think it is about $14k). Google "R Mercedes Marketing Support"

The dealers in my area act as if the R sales were up 58% in Dec, not down. I've gotten offers, I countered, then not even gotten an offer back. Good way to learn patience I guess. I would anticipate more $$ in the fall as the redesigned 2010 comes out.

Ha ha wouldn't you know as soon as I mention it here their online specials don't list the R class anymore. But I'm willing to bet you could still get the $15k off as its been an offer for quite some time now. I doubt it applies to left over models as your most likely to get a better deal than $15k off those anyways, most companies don't allow you to combine offers.

Also might keep in mind like the last poster said, if you do some dealing you can come away with a better price than the $15k off would get you.

but the 10K is for 2008 not 2009 models, right?

I thought you were saying 15000 off all in stock models -- 09 and 08...

It was for current dealer stock of 2008 models, I have seen my dealership offer these specials periodically through out 2008 so at this point I really don't see any reason for you to not get at least that much off a 2009. I bought mine early 2008 and got a similar deal and they weren't offering 15k off at the time. Guess it all depends on the dealership, but I do know there have been cash back offers on the R classes pretty much since its introduction.

MB cash is always to dealer. They've never had a rebate, which the Euro luxury brands avoid because of the harm one would do to their images.

What kind of deal are we looking at? A $60,000 '08 R for around $45,000?

They are running the same deal again this month on all remaining 2008 R classes. Its $15k off m.s.r.p. and its on a variety of set ups, but from my experience they are going to be R350, P1, 7 seat, heated seat models with a few rear seat entertainment models thrown in.

R350,Metallic Paint,P1,7 Seat, Heated Seats = $55k (give or take using 09 #'s)

$15k discount = $40k

Thanks for the info... I wonder why carsdirect.com doesn't show this incentive. Not that I plan to buy a new R... but that's good to know to kick some rocks at the dealer to get a used one cheaper

Would this apply to 2008 cars a dealer had on the lot for demos or loaners? i.e., do the dealers get the 15k for any 08 they have on the lot, regardless of use?

I'm not a salesman nor an owner of a dealership so I wouldn't know the exact answer to that question. I can tell you that the $15k off is for left over 2008 models, they are new never titled cars. Not entirely sure if its just my dealership offering it, or if its a MB offer though, but they are offering the same deal at all their family of dealerships.

If its a demo or loaner car your looking at you should be able to get more than $15k off sticker easily and wouldn't need the deal. To that notion, if you are really interested in an R class any dealership is bound to give you at least $15k off if not more right now.

Mind telling me the rock-bottom number... if an '08, looking for one w/ parktronic, power liftgate, nav, 7-seat, heated seats and memory seats. Rear-view camera and xenon is a plus. Rear-ent is also a plus. Color is flexible... but prefer white w/ either macadamia or black interior.

PM me... If you're outside CA, not sure whether we could make a deal since CA doesn't allow out-of-state new car.

I doubt that you could factor in MB's trunk money for brand new ones to bargain on used ones. As a matter of fact, with the 12K trunk money, you could get a cheaper brand new one than a at least a one year old CPO. I know of somebody who bought a brand new 2008 R350 last year that was cheaper than a used 2007 R350.

There is no way you can compare 2 r-class cars without listing the features of each. Otherwise you are comparing apples and Oranges and just adding confusion to the potential buyers at this forum

As a matter of fact I accidentally saw an invoice for an 07 CPO of almost exactly the same specs as mine when I bought it last year. I felt bad for the person who bought the 07 when my brand new 08 was cheaper.

And apparently lots of them. But like you, the R Class is beautiful to me. I've been wanting to have since the first time it came out on the market. It doesn't look like any other vehicle out there. But soon, a lot of copycats are coming out. I'd rather have it as rare as it is.
