2007 R350 Phone requirements

2007 R350 with Hands Free communication package. It has the supposed phone port in the console (plastic cover!)
What do I need to get a cell phone working with the hands-free / phone system? What phone is required for Canada?

Not interested in Bluetooth so not required.

Thanks

IF not interested in Bluetooth, then only solution is a "cradle" designed for a specific phone. The selection is very limited, but your dealer can describe it for you. I recommend iPhone 3G.

The only reason I'm not interested in Bluetooth is because the dealer told me yesterday it would cost about $4000 to get the capability!

Then they could not suggest any particular phone other than saying "most motorolas work."

Anywhere I can obtain some valid info on this?

If you've got the connector in your console, all you need is the Bluetooth puck, which is more like $400 US and not 4K. Part # B6 787 5878 or whatever has superceded that (if it has). Dealer apparently misunderstood what your car already has.

The salesman was being a d!ck because I imported the R from the US into Canada.
He told me I would have to replace the mirror (because of speaker/mic?), fibreoptic cabling, etc totalling $4k.

Please advise!

Saying I do not need Bluetooth was a product of my own ignorance.

Looking at the features, this is the way to go.

So if I have the Hands-Free Communication package and there is a plain black cover in the console, I'm good to go with the B67875878 Puck?

I imported my R350 from USA, too. I hate it everytime i go in for a service. They treated you like you are second class citizens.

I am interested in Hands Free option and not sure if mine comes with it or not. How do you tell? what is the plain black cover in the console? Do you have a picture? Thanks!

Pull the plastic cover off the Bluetooth connection in the console.
You will see the Bluetooth port.

Just the salesperson. The Service Department here is pretty awesome actually. Best service I've ever encountered.

Bluetooth DONE!
Picked up Mercedes Bluetooth module on eBay for $120CAD.
Popped it in and done!
Works with our several different phones brands EXCEPT....

I can't get the contacts to transfer from the phone to the Comand system.

I pick a contact and select send via Bluetooth. When I select it, the phone asks to disconnect to complete the task??? How can it transfer to Comand if it's disconnected. I didn't see a way around it without the phone forcing me to disconnect for the transfer via bluetooth. Same thing on a different brand phone I tried.

What am I doing wrong???

Ok, I have a black plastic (has felt) cover in my center console. What is the best way to pop this thing off? Is there screws? Or did I just use a pocket knife to pry it up?
