Another potential R350 buyer with some warranty questions.
Needless to say, we have found an 06 R350, 19k miles Capri blue, grey int, pano, NAV, heated seats, for $26.9. There is around 4 months left on warranty. Going to get it inspected before I pull the trigger.
The car drives well mechanically and seems faster than all of the r350's I have tested. I dunno if it has been serviced better or what. I did find that the sunroof is slow to open and creaks. Is this covered under warranty? How is the MB warranty in general? I am used to BMW's warranty and they cover almost everything.
I do like the vehicle and I hope I can contribute to this forum in the future..
good luck.

Long story short, pano roof is cover under 4 year warranty.

0W40 maybe "ideal" but it is difficult to find. We can agree to disagree on the oil. I feel that as long as it is changed every 7500 miles, Rotella 5w-40 will be appropriate.
Of course this applies only if the vehicle is still under warranty.
Honestly how can the dealer tell if its not MB spec oil? Send it out for analysis? I doubt it. If it was an AMG or M motor I would go with factory specs, but if the standard V6 is anything like BMW's inline 6 workhorse, then almost any synthetic oil will do.
I told him I had read to use 0-40 on the forum....but he said Mobile 1 10-40 is what they use....
Soooooo, which one? Lol...probably does not make a difference, but who knows?
Also, if I recall correctly there are a couple of threads on replacing the cabin filters from the engine bay which seems much easier. Just an FYI for next time.
Mercedes are sort of a car that commands respect, given the german reputation for the best engineering prowess in the world. Accordingly, tires other than Continentals or Michelins (or more recently I've seen Bridgestones) that are specified as Mercedes Original in the service manual, and oil other than the 15,000 km between changes variety recommended by MB on the service sheet (and incidentally the sheet you indicate on your service indicator menu after an oil-change to give the computer the correct parameters to calculate your next oil change) is what the average corner-lot dealer would do.
I'd highly recommend buying the service manual on DVD - lots of good info there as you seem to be a do it yourselfer type.
Congrats on the smart purchase and welcome to the club of happy owners.
