Anyone install 2011 LED tails on their '06-'10 R-Class?

I want these bad for my '08, I've always hated how dated and dim the rear lights look on my car. I've been watching the GL forums and am baffled because some say the LEDs are plug/ play others say a risister is needed, some say MB has to program the car with STAR.

Anyway anyone done this yet?

Another problem I see is if you switch to the LED tails you would need to add a reflector since the 2011 has an ugly reflector strip in the bumper where the reflector is part of the taillamp on the '06-'10 cars.

My email exchange with an MBUSI engineer in Alabama indicates a new rear SAM (signal acquisition module) is required to convert my GL to LED rear lighting.

But, since then I've actually seen them in action and note that the turn signals are red, which means I'm no longer interested.

I like that foglight mod...how did you go about it, parts needed, etc etc...

Is it OEM, or is it just aftermarket add on? I have factory cornering fog lights down there, does it work with that?

Thanks,
dave

I'm dying to know part numbers too, and also what you mean by connecting them under the key? Looks really good, keep us informed on the rear tail light install too.

There's a thread about this in the other MB forum. I believe this LED light (a la Audi) is part of the R Class Grand Edition.

2011 led tail llights

The 2011 rear tailights will not fit a 06-10 without modafications to the body. There is a video of that somewhere on here. it's close but off.
