2009 MB R350 AWD
Exclamation What's the best brake pad

Hey Forum,
I have a 2009 R350, which is due for service C in a few days. I will take care of that without a problem, but I have another problem. I took the car for state inspection and was told I have almost no meat on my front pads. I have about 25,000 miles on the vehicle. Is this normal brake wear? I was looking online for pad replacement and saw EBC, Okabano and of course, O.E. pads. Which pad is best? Will using an aftermarket part affect my lease? Any help would be appreciated

It's normal wear.

OE pads are best

You may easily require new rotors as well.

I am using EBC red pad on stock rotor and I am pretty happy with it. Definitely stop better than the OEM pad. I heard good things about Okabano too.

On my OEM set of pads I got almost 40k miles before replacement. But I did a lot of highway driving, so that could account for a lot of it. On my first set of replacement pads I went EBC. Outstanding upgrade. But only got 20k out of 'em. Just switched out to Akebono. Better pad feel, but to me, better stopping power in the EBC.

I changed my pads. My rotors had allot of life left.

Texar, jurid, pagid, ate are all good. I got acombination of turid and pagid for price. Texar, jurid, and pagid are all oem spec. My r350 came from the facotry with texar pads.

I got 43,000 miles on my orriginal pads untill mine started to make allot of noise. So I should get another ~40,000 miles out of the new oem pads.

Thanks for your info,

What is the typical life of a Rotor?

The previous owner of my R320cdi said he changed his Genuine MB pads every 20K kms but no mention of rotors.

Im not due for a replacement for some time now, but i do find that the OEM pads shed alot of brake dust! they feel fine and havent been pushed to any extremes given its the family vehicle.

Out of what has been discussed here, what fits my needs best?

thanks

Ideally, i'd probably like to use a new pad that offers comparible braking ability to OEM without the dust and better life!

With these cars, they are very accurate with what they do and sense(sensors), careful when you buy non MB products. If you are going to get a non MB product, you need to know exactly what you are getting.

One example that I have experienced. I increased my tire size by one inch in diameter with my Porsche cayenne tires, all 4. If I made a tight turn it would mess with the speed sensors and would engage the traction control, it was that sensitive...

If you want a to get aftermarket, do allllllllot of research so that you know the changes that it will make to the car. I want less smoke also, but I got 4 pads for $112 so that was not a big deal to get oem again.

Sorry so long to get back, have been on the road. Greenstuff 7000 series. A little pricey but made for heavy trucks/SUV's. I had no problems w/ stopping power, or brake dust but for that price I thought I would get a little more mileage out of 'em than they did.

So far after initial honey moon period I'm not that satisfied w/ Akebono pads. Going to switch back to EBC or the brembo system since I'm going to need rotors as well next time out.

If such a pad existed, Mercedes would have fitted it as OE.
