R Owners - What's your year/mileage?

You would need to hook up another battery from under the bonnet. There are the positive and negative posts located for the jumps start. You can use them to feed power to the system and move the seat.
Or if you can access the seat mounting bolts, you can unscrew the whole seat and move it out of the way?

yeah these cars run really well on the highway and they are great for long distance drives. I was able to get my car back up and running after changing the battery and some fuses and it's back in business. Hope to put another 100k miles on it. 400k here i come.

2011 BlueTech, just crossed 195K km, will turn 200,000 km by end of summer. Just had to replace the AdBlue heater (again) but has been relatively trouble free since the major re-build at the 150K km mark. I've started searching for a replacement vehicle, not because I don't like my R-class - but just the realistic view that the next major repair probably won't be worth doing. Unfortunately, have some body damage (cracked front bumper cover from daughter hitting our garage, and various door dings - some in really bad spots) which have killed the re-sale value unless I choose to fix them. Every time I drive this car, I like it and there is literally no car that can replace it - in fact I'm going to create a new thread because in my casual search for a replacement vehicle - it really highlights how the R-class was too ahead of its time and/or poorly marketed by Mercedes. There are SUV's that can carry and tow the same (but are taller and won't fit in a garage with a roof box). There are wagons that can do most (since I rarely need the third row, I can sacrifice that) but try to find one that you can get an OEM hitch for.
So I'm going to drive it until it dies with a list of replacement vehicles handy...

Hearing about all of the problems diesel owners have had, just reinforces my happiness with the gas version. At least in the US, it seems that any fuel savings is more than offset by repairs.

2006 R500 work 133k miles. I just bought it this past spring. At far so good just catching up on maintenance items though had 100k service at dealer before I bought it. I changed all the drivetrain fluids and upgraded to the later 722.9 deeper trans pan and triple media filter. Did front brakes with rotors and also a RaceIQ stage 1 ECU tune. Spark plugs and wires next after I pull one to see if they have ever been done. Also I replaced rear air springs with Arnott and shocks with Bilstein.

2011 R350 Gas 150,000 miles.
I was afraid of it at first as a MB Newbie. Thought I'd spend a bunch at the dealer.
This site and YouTube let me know that it's just a car. I use FCPEuro for all my parts.
I've changed the oil and filter. Changed the air filters and cabin air filter, Replaced the rear air bags. Replaced rotors, wear sensors, one ABS sensor and pads all around.
It's time for tires which is why I'm browsing today.
I seem to feel every little bump these days, would you think the shocks are ready? They should be OE. It's not bouncy like I would expect bad shocks to be, no weird tire wear, and no leaking shocks.

Tires get slappy and harsh when worn. See how the ride feels after new tires are installed.

gforaker, yes tires make a big different in ride and sound quality. I ran a Touareg 238k miles with the factory shocks. The car rode acceptably well at the end, I'm sure it would have been more comfortable had the shocks been replaced.
