How do you like them? They are at the top of my purchase list.

Don't know yet. They are coming in tomorrow. I will roadforce ballance them myself to perfection. Will post results on Wednesday. I tried to install the 265/50R20 but they are just touching the inner fender liner in front. Looked killer though.

Just had the maiden voyage on the Pirelli tires with brand new rims. They balanced extremely well and now my speedometer actually shows the proper speed. The offset is a little wide but a little heat on the fender liners and some re-molding fixed the rub.

The best is 255.

How's the ride and noise level?

Absolute silence. They ride really well. Remember, the sidewall is the same height as the OE tire size.

It looks like these will be on my R next week. I have made my decision.
Thanks

I have Sailun tires on mine. Inexpensive and handle fine, but they're not very smooth.

I feel my Sailuns are noisy and I feel a lot of swaying in the tire. I assume that's from sidewall flex?

Sailuns are 3rd tier tires. You get what you pay for. Staying with first tier tires certainly pay off in the long run. These cars need wheel alignments at least once a year and plenty of wheel rotations and balancing.

What is the reason for alignment every years?

We do about 5-8 alignments a day, and seldom a vehicle is in perfect alignment. This is due to rough roads combined with heavy uni-body vehicles and light suspension components. BTW. Nothing worse than having a set of tires worn on either inside or outside edge and the rest of the tire still being ok. I hear so often from people, "I just bought those tires 2 years ago." Oh, and don't forget, you can't just replace 2 tires. This is an AWD. One blown tire when the others have more than 3/32 wear on them and you are looking at a whole new set of tires. Alignments don't have to cost too much. Lack of maintenance does.

I am on my second R class and had both aligned but almost no difference in the before and after specs. This car's suspension is rock solid.
My first used R320 came with second rate continental *Barum* brand. Bad news. I reshod them with Micheline Latitude and was very happy with them.
My most recent R350 has OEM Continentals. So far so good lasting 50K Miles so far with even wear. will have to change them come spring time.

Can you please provide reference to manufacturers actual service info or bulletin to back this up? I think that this may be very old information and often used to sell more tires. I heard it at Costco Vaudreuil-Dorion today. A lady had one unreparable puncture and the clerk said she had to replace 2 tires.

I have done some research and this may be based on very old experiences with very old basic 4wd systems.

I have a hunch that both the original OEM Conti 4x4 and the Michelin Latitude Tour HP are getting long in the tooth. Micheling has the Defender now. Longer tread life as well and top rated by Consumer reports. A bit cheaper too. Any thoughts?

They're on my list too. Also take a look at the Yokohama G055's.

You can never go wrong with the Michelins. They will definitey give you a smooth ride. The new style Escalades have a terrible ride and the Michelins help with that.
