HELP....any ideas where the leak comes from ?
hi
got a 2006 r500, recently saw that :
so oil seems to oroginate from around somewhere above the alternator..... Does not come from oil plunger thing......
and off course the belt is full of oil, sprays averywhere.
closer look
SO, no idea where it comes from, does not seems to be an active leak as oil level is still ok AND there is no drip under the car nor on the engine lower splash protection plate... not an old leak either, was not there few weeks ago, then i let my wife drive the car and, voila...lol
seriously, i know the belt is the due for a change, i,ll change it *** soon as the leak is taken care of.
ANY INPUTS, anyone whom that happened before ? any places, things, seals, tubes hoses you would recommend to check ????
i must ad, i can not really clean it right now it's minus a lot outsides water would just freeze all over....
thanks

What color is it ?? If its red or green the Color of your Power Steering Oil..then there you go..try cleaning it with a white Paper Towel,..and if its brown Dark brown..the you know its engine oil and its maybe a Seal Leak...on the Head of the Engine or somewhere...

I literally just had the same problem, except that the leak fried the alternator in the process. It was leaking from one of the sensors near the top of the engine. A $2 o-ring fixed the leak and $250 for a new alternator.
