HK Fiber Optic Adapter for Pioneer Digital Media

Hello, Im new here. I am needing to swap out my wifes (birthday present) 2011 Mercedes R350 Radio with listed options below for an aftermarket Pioneer digital media head like https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P.../DMH-WC6600NEX

Current Radio w/ options
1. HK Logic 7 Fiber Optic Amplifier
2. Factory Dual Screen Rear entertainment package w/ DVD player in center console
3. factory rear backup camera

Here are my questions
1. Has anyone had any luck with an Adapter for the Fiber Optic harness so you can use the existing amplifier and speakers? If so can you please provide a link
2. Will I be able to use our factory backup camera?
3. Will our factory screens & DVD player work with the new radio?

The install technicians at my city's most repetable car audio spot said to come here, they couldn't find any adapter options and couldn't give me any definitive answers to those 3 quesitons.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Yes to 1 and 2. Can’t help with 3.

For the factory amplifier You need a MOST converter box. You can buy it as part of an install kit from AVIN (I think that’s the brand) in the states or Aliexpress.

Im from Australia and our local distributor of harnesses wanted $400 more for a harness with a MOST box. I bought the standard harness and the box separately from aliexpress to save a few hundred.

Buy a fakra to RCA cable to use the factory reverse camera (you will need to wire the reverse trigger to the head unit).

Have a look at the Aerpro website in Aus - it tells you what components you need then you can look for a local supplier.

Have fun!

Thank you

Thank you,

I will be having it installed professionally. Hopefully someone can chime in about the DVD player and screens in the back.

also, with the MOST box, where you able to retain the steering wheel controls for the audio portion of your install?

thanks

The steering wheel control harness does not convert the telephone pick up / hang up buttons but everything else should work.

The MOST box only converts sound.

I think you also lose linguatronic but you add Siri if your unit has CarPlay.

I’m in Australia - I have no idea where you are so it is hard to recommend. Just google w251 Swc harness and see what is local to you.

You could probably get the screens to work but not sure about the DVD - you should search this forum to see if it has been done on a Mercedes with the same system.

And if your installer doesn’t know how to install this - I suggest you look elsewhere. I spent two days researching to work out how to do mine and had no prior knowledge. Professional installer should know where to start.

Mine was under $1200 in total including headunit.

I installed it myself so no labour costs.
