Forged wheels installed on R63

Been looking for some time for a set of off the shelf wheels for the R63 - it was difficult to find a set with the offset and light weight I desired.

So, I finally installed a set of custom forged wheels from http://www.forgedalloysusa.com/

20x9 ET50 with stock sized 265/45 Vredestein Sessanta SUV tires.

20lbs/wheel. Fully forged. Compared to 40 lbs for the stock OEM wheels

I have immediately noticed that the ride has improved, acceleration off the line is "crisper", and handling is tighter. An awesome upgrade!!

Not a big fan of the design or maybe its the size they look tiny but its nice to see R's with aftermarkets.

Yes, they do look "smaller" than the stock 20" AMG wheels.

I went for function over form. 21' and 22" are too heavy and defeat the purpose of lightweight. The R is not really the prettiest car in the MB line-up but it's great as a minivan. Utility is its purpose for me anyways.

At 20lbs each, these wheels reduce unsprung weight by 80 lbs, which is a huge benefit to accelearation, ride and handling

Nice job with the weight savings! do you know how much the stock wheels weigh? Spacers? Haven't gotten around to lowering our R63 yet... but found a place that will do the star lowering for it...

Thanks. Stock wheels are about 40 lbs each!!! So, 80 lbs reduction in unsprung weight equals better handling, accelaration and ride. I've been told this translates into 400lbs of weight taken off the vehicle in terms of acceleration (factor of 5 for unsprung weight).

No spacers required. Stock wheels are 20x8.5 ET60.

These wheels are 20x9 ET50 which brings these wheels 16mm outwards for a more flush look. Also, by being .5 inch wider, it better utilizes the 265 footprint.

Let me know how your Star Lowering turns out.

Congrats on your new rims.

I have R63 OEM Alanz 20" rims. It weights 33 lbs. not 40 lbs. as your oem rim.

AsianR350- those Alanz wheels look nice, but I don't think those wheels were ever offered on the R63. Europe had a 21" option, but they looked the same as the 20" OEM 5 spoke wheel that came to North America.

I have seen a video on Utube of a R63 with the Alanz rims on.

I've read that your AMG is/was for sale. Is it still available?

I emailed him a few days ago but still haven't gotten a reply. He must be very busy as he's typically prompt in replying to emails.

Best of luck!

Sorry for the late reply, yup, sold the R63, but have a custom set of wheels for any R class. Wheels cost me almost 5k, and the tires another 1.5K.

Offset is perfect, flush with fenders. Lightweight. No curb rash.

PM me if you are interested. Any reasonable offer will be accepted
