R63 Project...
I am throwing this out there to anybody that may be interested. I have a 2007 Silver R63, that decided to eat it's own motor. In July on the way home from vacation a valve broke off and made contact with the piston which killed the whole motor.
After a little research I found there had been similar issues with the buckets and valves on other 63AMG motors so I decided I would not replace the motor with another used motor. I did some research and talked with the guys at Weistec to have them rebuild the whole motor from the block up, because they had address most of the common problems with the motor. So that is the direction I am heading, however it's a going to cost around $ 22k so I can not say that I running that way.
Currently the R is parked and waiting for funds to start the project. If somebody wants to buy the R from me I am willing to sell it, it has around 78,000 miles and beside the motor is in excellent shape inside and out. PM if you are interested.

Why not do a combination of the two? Instead of a full re-build that will require all new internals, and maybe even a new head/block due to damage; get a used engine for cheap and replace the heads, or upgrade the valves. Should be much cheaper than $20k for a full engine build.

Hi Guys,
My plan was to sell the R to another enthusiast in search for an R for their wife and kids. As you know it needs a new motor, but I never found anybody interested in taking on the job. I think I responded to everybody's PM, sorry to any that I did not.
I had the engine pulled out this week and I drive it down to Weistec. The project has begun, first let me say these guys are awesome. We toured their facility and were very impressed. Best part is there is an all wheel drive dyno there for testing the R once we are done. We are doing a full engine build top to bottom in prep for a stage 3 super charger, and bullet proofing the transmission to match the power. Power should be around 850ish HP, yes that's right. And built to be a daily driver.
When we are done it will be the fastest R in the world. Below are some pictures from the trip.

Exciting to see you are keeping it and doing this.
keep us updated - I'm interested in doing their m157 upgrades but so many options other there it's overwhelming.

Tell us about your Weistec modded R63! A few months ago, I bought my second R63 with only 9,500 miles - I'm in the process of building it up now going along the same route as you.
Cheers!
