How does Euro front Bumper mount to '86-91 W126 US cars?
Wanted to see if anyone knows how they mount as it appears it is not a direct bolt on.
Thanks
Thanks

Hey Dan,
Just wanted to post these here for the others. Again, mounting is pretty straight forward. The only caveat is that you need to saw off the additional eyelet that MB welded on the original eyelet, in order for the tow hook to work with the euro spec bumper (which is much snugger against the body of the car).

Here is a link to the thread with the pictures of my euro bumper.

Looks like your bumper has different brackets. Do you know what year car your euro bumper was from?

What you have there is a 1980-85 380/500SEC bumper. I have never seen that mounted on a 1986-91 S-Class sedan. I have seen it mounted to 1980-85 sedans, however. And, I have seen 1980-85 sedan bumpers on 1986-91 sedans. I have also seen 1986-91 euro SEC front bumpers on 86-91 sedans.
From your pics, the long and the short of it is that you will need to make some modifications to the brackets from what I can see in order to make it work. I had no such problems, totally bolt on. Brackets fit together nice and snug, front and rear. My bumpers are for the "late" model cars, 1986-91.
Again, your guess is as good as mine on this one. Keep in mind, if you can make the brackets work, you will need the chrome trim from a 79-85 euro sedan to integrate the trim with the hood properly.

I looked at my bracket design again to refresh my memory. I have two threaded bolts attached to the bracket on the bumper side, like you do. Additionally, I have one threaded bolt attached to the frame, as you can see from the pics, which the bracket sandwiches into on the bumper side.
I don't know if this makes any sense to you from words. I can take some more pics of the bracket assembly if you like.

couple more pics here for, hopefully, some additional clarification.
Each bracket system has 3 bolts, one stems from the frame and 2 stem from the bracket itself on the bumper.

Thanks for the help. I appears that the 80-85 Euro bumpers use a different mounting configuration than the 86-up. I am still going to be able to get it to work without modifications. I discovered that when I placed the flexible bumper on the bumper support it was hitting the tow hook and it was not seating all the way in. So after I installed it in the correct place it appears that it will work out fine. Thanks again for your help.
Thanks
Dan
