my merc 300se does 3500rpm at 120 kmph... is that normal? shouldnt it be a little lower? like 2500-3000rpm? its does 4000-4100rpm at 150kmph.

ic., its just that on othercars it would change gear and go back to 2500 or something...considering these mercs have big engines with enough torque i thought it should be more relaxed at high way speeds...like a proper cruiser..what we have instead are really revvy engines that accelerate at the touch of the pedal ..it feels like there should have been an extra gear or sumthing

Perhaps you could find a tuner who can install an overdrive into the car's transmission. Maybe one with button activation. (I can't tell you if that really exists)

Mercedes are usually geared to give the maximum top speed possible. With only four gears avaliable, its not really possible to have a tall gear for low rev cruising.
In 4th gear, mine pulls about 51km\h per 1000rpm. So at 60mph, its doing about 1950rpm. And at top speed, which is 155mph/250km\h, its doing 5000rpm which is exactly where the power peaks!
Your 300SE does sound like its revving very high. Next time your driving, stick it into 3rd gear to check that it is actually using 4th gear. It may be stuck in 3rd!

That sounds about right. My 300E is a little lower. 3100rpm @ 120km/h and about 3800rpm @ 150km/h
