Please help!. I have a couple issue with my 560SEL.
Did a search but did not find the answers I am looking for. I appreciate any help.
Car is 87 560SEL with 286,000 miles
Issues.
1. Recycle Air button is non functional. The indicator light does come on but does not prevent fresh air from comming in. If it is not an easy fix, I would just use something to block the fresh air from comming in but I do not know where is this vent that leads air from the outside to come in the vehicle.
2. How do I get the heat to come from the foot and floor vents? I have tried all different settings but just cant get the air to come out of the foot and floor vent.
Thanks

I can answer you #1
The flap is not working due to one or both vacumme pumps failed. I think the car has a total of 9 of these pumps.
Not sure about #2

Do you know where is this flap located? and the locations of two vacuum pumps you mentioned that controls this flap?

I am not sure but I think they are behind the dash. If you want to learn more about the car, you could join Alldata.com and they have diagrams for just about everything for DIY. I used to be a member but my membership has expired and it was for another car.

Thanks again tdkw. I will try alldata.com and see what they offer.

I like it very much. We've owned it since 91 w/60K and it's still running strong on the original engine and transmission. No blue or dark smoke. I have never had to add oil between oil changes. It may burn between 1/4 to 1/2 quart every oil change (5k miles) which i think is normal for this kind of milage.
I am planning to fix all the typical minors problem associate with old cars now that I have access to alldata.com. I am planning to keep it for a long time.

When you're driving in some wet surface uphills or light snow, if you see a yellow triangle light flashing on your cluster, then you have traction control. If not, just the limited slip.
