I truly was happy to sit back in my car. It felt like a toyota compared to my car. Could it be that the 2003-05 version is better, I truly hated the experiance and it ruined my expectations of the cl600. What do you guys think?

??? the 2002 S55 def trumps a 95 S500. The CL600 is a league above both, the whole dash is wrapped in leather, full wood console.... pretty luxurious car.

Trumps the w140 is speed yes, but in luxury and overall experiance... NO. I truly was hoping that the s55 would be awesome, I truly was upset with the whole driving experiance. The car moved, but so does my s500, and It feels more luxurious.

about a month or so ago i had the pleasure of trying out both the 06 s500 and 06 s55(unlce was shopping around) and i tested both and LOVED the s55 it had quickness thats just unreal for a 4door car(they didnt have the s65 to try out) to be honest though i would rather have a w140 over the s500 but wouldnt mind having the S55 or the s65..IMHO the w140 is still the heavyweight champ of sedans!!!

It's not hard to believe. I agree totally. After the W140, Mercedes seems to have gotten lost, both in quality AND styling! The S as I've said before looks like a Hyundai outside and a Toyota inside. If the CLS is any indication, (Acura clone) , the future is bleak.

If I won the lotto, as I've said to my wife, I LOVE the performace of the current S600 but wouldn't spend almost $200 000 on a car that looks like a Toyota and will spend most of it's time at the dealer's service dept.

I once saw a quote somewhere that Lexus has gotten better at building a Mercedes than Mercedes. I laughed at the time, but am not so sure anymore.....

Ah, well, I'll never afford a new S class anyways. LOL.

I still have my w140 for a reason. My wife and I drove a 2004 S600, 2004 W12 Phaeton, and 2004 760Li. She liked the 760, but the idrive was a tad confusing and we could not bare the thought of trading in our low mileage 1998 S600 after all the care we have given it. The 2004 S600 was a blast to drive, powerful, luxurious, and a light years ahead of the W140 with respect to technology, but it lacked the "vault" like feel of our W140.
