Hey Rob just wanted to know if you have any major issues with your vehicle and how has it been running because im thinking about buying a 94-99 S500 or a S600???

Hello im thinking about buying a 94-99 S500 or S600 which one in your opinion is the most durable,reliable and cost friendly as far as repairs,ive heard both models are really GREAT cars????

My current mechanic is an ex AMG builder/mechanic. He's straight from Germany and has years of experience with Mercedes. Maybe its just his German accent, but I value his opinions in our discussions. Anyway, he mentioned to me one day that (in his opinion) there are two engines made by Mercedes that are balanced almost perfectly. They are:

So.in your opinion both are really great engines huh,im thinking about buying a 94-99 S500 or S600 which do you think overall is the better car as far as mechanically sound,reliability,durability and cost friendly as far as repairs???? Thanks in advance....

My S600 1995 has 264000 miles and is used everyday.
Reliable and comfortable.
Every Spring I spend about £100 just to stay on top of any chips and marks on the paint.
Engine and mechanics have been low maintenance.
suspension needed new accumulators and also new front springs (spring broke!)
A/c had overhaul at 200k miles
I'm hoping to get to 500k miles by which time I will be able to afford a used Maybach!

Well, just taken the plunge and bought another S600 with only 108000 miles on the clock, so it can sit alongside my 275000 S600.
So in the mornings I will have to decide whether to drive the light blue or the dark blue!
The high miler just seems to go from strength to strength.

1997 S600 342000. Just picked her up today $1500 with new motor mount installed. can't even tell the car is on. The interior is perfect. The suspension is shot and the sls doesn't work also. Will be converting to struts springs. Probably needs all new from control arms , ball joints etc... I found some kits in eBay for cheap. Excited car really feels smooth as a rolls Royce
