Aftermarket Modifications

Alright guys,

So i think lowering my S320 wont be a very good idea. Iam seriously considering buying atleast 18 or 19inch rims and wheels. Apart from that iam also thiking of upgrading the headlamps to Xenon HID, with clear corners on the sides. I currently do have the S600 grill.

Question is,
Has anyone ever upgraded the headlights to Xenon? I did mine on my C280, and it wasnt a very good experience as i was not able to aim properly. How much did it cost you? $$

Also thinking of getting illuminated door sills. Not sure how much light do they create, i mean, is that like real bright light sticking out of the doors or is it just a numb kind of light?

Tints. I have seen many MBs with a kind of a dark grayish tint on the windows. Is that factory or some special kind which i dont know..

Has anyone ever tried AT Italia rims? If you havent, have a look at tirerack.com. They have those AT Italis Lunas for a W140. I was thinking of buying those, not sure about the product quality. Seems to be that everyone who has AMG, has the monoblock IIs on their cars. No doubt that monoblocks are sweet, just that i was thinking of trying something new..

Thankyou Guys! Anything else would really help me..

I have aftermarket ///AMG illuminated door sills on my CLK, wired to the interior lighting of the car, so when the doors are shut, the door sill goes off, if you open one door, only that sill turns on, the light is very noticable, mine are blue, and it is a blue glow that cannot be seen during the day obviously, but cannot be overlooked at night.

If the tint you see is dark (not light blue or green) it is aftermarket. My windows are tinted, the % of the tint is the % light admittance allowed by the film. they have different tints (dark, mirror tint, all different colors), mine is just dark, so that the interior is protected and people cant see inside my car.

how much are you looking to spend on wheels? do you have a budget, there are a lot of great wheels depending on how much you want to spend, i opted for the Carlsson 2/5 Brillaint edition, look great...

Go with the 19" AMG Aero II Monoblock. Those other rims you are looking at won't do anything for the S-class. Those belong on a Honda or something.

The S class comes with a small fender gap from the factory, so if you get bigger wheels it should look fine. 18X8 in the front and 18X9 in the rear tucks nicely in the fenders and gives the car an aggressive stance. Xenon is expensive. The left side headlight in my 600 was cracked by a rock and it cost me $900 for the unit itself!! Goodluck!

not true, with 18's the car is still too high, looks kinda funny, i got new springs and will so install them with before and after pics. you also have the options of keeping stock suspension and changing Spring pad thickness, 4 sizes are availible from dealership, 8,13,18,23mm

Thanks.. but this thread is really old. I have already made upgrades to my car. 18" AMG Monoblocks, Philips Xenons and black paint on bumpers and side skirt has cost me thousands. But i love my car!

its amazing how much a few mods can change a W140's look. AMG's alone totall transformed the look of the car.
