Thumbs down accumulators

How do you know if your accumulators are no good? Mushy ride or harsh ride indicate faulty accumulators? I replaced my accumulators about a little over a year ago because a mechaninc told me they were shot because of how the back end was bouncy. I replaced them with new ones ,and now it feels like there is 200 lbs of air in my tires when I go over a small bump. Feels like the car is rigid ,and does not absorb any flaw in the road at all.

Have a read of this:

Perhaps it's leaking fluid somehow?

No leaks in shocks or anywhere else? Thanks for the reply.

Are you sure did you check the fluid level under the hood? You might just not be able to see it.

Cool

The resivor is full I disconected the linkage in the back put the arm to lower car lowers then to fill the car raises. I even put the car about 2" higher in the back ,and has not gone back down! So I know the shocks are good. New shocks up front. The car is on factory 16" rims with michellin tires. Could worn bushings cause this car to make this noise going over a bump like I am driving with olny rims? The tops of the rear shock mounts look to be in good shape and not cracked. Thanks for your feed back..

Hmm...
To my understanding the spheres are the actual schock abosorbing unit.
so correct me if im wrong but if the hydraulic shock is pressurized, the mineral fluid is very hard to compress if the nitrogen has leaked through the membrane.
Unless you got a problem with the leveling valve problem...
Which im sure its not unheard of.

The reservoir under the hood shouldn't actually be 'full'...only up to the top rib is considered full, there has to be some air space in the res. so it self-bleeds any air off the return line.

Its VERY common for the spheres to go bad, and its easy to replace them in the driveway. They'll 'clunk' letting you know its time to change. Change to new fluid too when you do this. That V12 site is a great place to get familair with repairing/maintaining the system.

I replaced the accumulators about 9 months ago. Also put new shocks on the front about 2 months ago. When I go over a bump feels like I dont even have tires on the car. Thanks for your help =]
